When he clearly isn't.

Allow me to clarify, I don't mean my God (of which I don't have) is the real one. Simpy that the Buddhist faith clearly states there is no God, so it seems really weird that people refer to Buddha, of all people as a God.

Good point.
Buddhists don't even believe in God.
And,
Buddha said for people NOT to worship him.

I doubt that the Buddhist refer to the Buddha as a god (or the God, if you like). The Buddha clearly stated that there had been no Creator. I guess that the Buddhists rather regard him as the first person who achieved enlightenment.

I'm Buddhist and I want to make things clear. We don't worship Buddha as a god...He's someone who help start the religion..the monks aren't a god to us neither they're like priests....To help spread the word...Buddha was just someone who founded the religion....He was a king and he was in search or something...he roamed around and saw everything the poor and more...he later came to this place and meditated for awhile...and he had a dream about being reincarnated...and that's when he hit enlightenment

I read a book on world religions once that said that some modern Buddhists clearly contradict what Buddha himself believed(he was an atheist), in an attempt to "Christianize" there religion.

Have you ever considered the idea that we are all godly as we are all a part of god?

I guess for that you would have to consider the idea that you are not separate from God in the first place, which is hard for most intensly religous people do.

Because they're stupid Christians who want to set up a straw-man argument against every other belief system on the planet, that's why.
Fundamentalists will be the end of us all if we're not careful.

Most people do not think he is a God, but they do meditate on his teachings in front of a statue of him sometimes. This leads people to believe they are worshiping him as a God, when in reality, they just want to focus their meditation.
