I find that atheists will often exhibit more religion than the most devout creationists. They are extremely atheistic which in and of itself, ironically, is practiced with such fervor it could be defined as religious. I also find that the God deniers are typically rabid environmentalists, another religion, if you will. So can you think of a single non religious person?

In what ways are we more strict and unforgiving than God is?

Please don't give rude answers, they are unneccessary.

Thanks so much!

Not meant to be offensive.

I read on Wikipedia that they could. It says: In some countries with a Muslim majority, sexual crimes, including adultery and sodomy, carry the death penalty, as do religious crimes such as apostasy from Islam, the formal renunciation of one's religion.

That seems a little harsh. Do Muslims not have freedom of choice?

I think that's pathetic. And being a christian, I still wouldn't do it even if the bible said it was permissable. I'm a christian, but I'm a decent human being first.

No one's tossed any my way lately, so I'm asking simply based on the replies I'm reading to questions posed by others. I expect those with guilt feelings to let me have it good, but my hope is that you can be honest with yourself and give me a real answer as to why you behave in the manner that you do.

There are those of you who are usually respectful. I'd like your input also.

"Any path is only a path, and there is no affront, to oneself or to others, in dropping it if that is what your heart tells you ... Look at every path closely and deliberately. Try it as many times as you think necessary. Then ask yourself, and yourself alone, one question ... Does this parh have a heart? If it does, the path is good; if it doesn't it is of no use." Carlos Castaneda, The Teachings of Don Juan

What do you think?

I am Mormon, and baptized in the Mormon church.
I had such a strong testimony, but now it has changed. Maybe party because I just moved across the country, and my friends aren't there to make me WANT to go to church. But, don't you think if I really believed in it, it wouldn't matter who was there? I just don't know what I am feeling. There are a lot of things that I disagree with in the church. I don't know what to do.
I guess my questions are:
Is this normal, to start doubting?
Do I tell my parents that I don't believe anymore?
I don't know what to do.
Should I be feeling this way? I know that there was a time when I KNEW in my HEART that it was true, but I don't feel that way anymore.

Why do the gods of the mainstream religions need to threaten people with damnation? I'm not talking about free will; I'm talking about why a god would have an oddly human-like need to be worshipped.

Ok, I must state that I am quite ignorant on the matter but I was just wondering about something. Correct me if I am wrong pls and enlighten me.
According to what I was told the Old Testament was what was said by prophets before Jesus' arrival. When Jesus came to earth he guided people, and his teachings made the New Testament (I hope this is right, I really dont know).
If this is the case, why are there so many Christians reffering to the OT and using its verses??
Thanks

POLITICAL PARTY WANTS TO STOP MUSLIMS QUITTING ISLAM

By CAROLYN HG

Malaysia Correspondent
=== THE opposition Islamic party is planning to table a private Bill in Parliament to forbid Muslims from leaving the religion as it is convinced that there are thousands who are already on the verge of doing so.

Parti Islam SeMalaysia (PAS) youth chief Salahuddin Ayub told The Straits Times that the party believes the situation is "very serious" and puts the number at more than 250,000.

The claim cannot be verified but last month, the Mufti of Perak, Harussani Zakaria, a government- appointed religious leader, also quoted the same figure.

An official from the federal Islamic religious department, when contacted, said it could be based on applications to the registration department for a name change in identity cards.

A name change is sometimes perceived as a step towards conversion.

My thinly veiled question "Why is there no mention of the word 'Religion' in the Bible?" attracted varied answers, the result being not unexpected. Part of the point of this debate was to allow the community to choose the answer. That result is interesting. Check it out.

It's interesting to see so many views people have on topics like this. I was just wondering what everyone else feels the similarities or differences are between religion, faith, and belief.

I was kind of thinking "religion" is how you practice your "belief," and "faith" is at what level your "belief" is.
