Inquisitions, crusades, witch trials and jihad appear particular to the above-mentioned mythologies. Unless one goes back to the Aztecs, I can't think of any other religions even remotely as violent. It appears that belief in vicious gods makes vicious people. And if the god is vicious, what is it you worship other than fear?
Oddly enough, Judaism appears to have found a decent interpretation of the Old Testament, despite the cruelty in it. Still, one out of three Abrahamic religions isn't enough for peace in the world. Until the other two are completely revamped, there will be war after war after war.

There are many people who claim to be "devout Christians" and believe the bible is the "infallable and absolute true word of God", so if the Christians have total faith in Jehovah, why do they get to pick and choose which moral and amoral acts they want to perform from the bible?

It seems a little hypocritical to say the word of God is true, infallable, and righteous and then pick which parts you want to follow and other parts you don't want to follow because its amoral.

Not so confident in your God's word in the end?

Looking through the universe, there's a lot of empty space out there, cold and darkness abound, and yet we live upon what could possibly be the most beautiful and bountiful planet in the entire cosmos. Not only that, but we're so evolved that we can even reflect upon and discuss our incredible luck. So for me, it just seems like a slap in the face of our obscenely good fortune to give all the credit to an imaginary deity. Give atheism a try and you will find that the universe doesn't fall apart when you take 'God' out of it...in fact, it all becomes even more amazing and wonderful once you throw away the easy answers and go after truth.

First off I see no evil in, "An it harm none, do what ye will"
Though people claim I am going to hell because I am Wiccan, and those who do say this, are of course the ones getting it out of the Bible, and if they are quoting out of the Bible, then does that make those who worship Budda, Allah, Jehovah etc. evil as well? Why when I say I believe in a GOD, I am still considered evil because I am tagged with the label Wiccan? I was born and raised this, it's been in my blood for a long time, and many of my family was murdered for this belief, by the church of course, but if we all believed in God in general, the main creator, and still loved him and his many creations, then why bash Wiccans? And like I said, by bashing us, you bash all others that are not mentioned in the Bible, I'm sure the other religions have their sources as well.

Almost all religions claim some divine sanction of their faith, including holy writings that declare within them that they are handed down from God.

Because of this, isn't every belief equally risky?
Are Jews and others taking a big risk if Hindus have the bead on the divine revelation?
Are Muslims and others risking the wrath of God if Christianity's belief in Jesus divinity ends up being true?
And are atheists at no greater risk than believers for dismissing all of the faiths?

worship and love god, and then say that we were all given the choice not to. Does that really make sense? If you create something to function in a certain way and it doesn't, who or what is at fault, the creation, or the creator?
