Exodus account tells us that the Egyptians found them to be contemptible because the tended to flocks.
They were also forced into hard labor to make bricks for other purposes.

"This bit of accepted wisdom, that "...the Pyramids [were] built by slaves who were Jews.." (as stated in your message of 1 September), is a canard that does not deserve repetition. First, it is anachronistic and illogical. The "Pyramids" -- presumably the three great pyramids of Gizah and perhaps the earlier pyramids to the south, including the Step Pyramid of Sakkara -- were built in the Third and Fourth Dynasties, 2650-2575 BC and 2575-2467 BC. The Jews did not exist at that time. The ancestors of the Jews, the Hebrews or "Children of Israel" -- Bene Yisra'el -- did not enter Egypt until centuries later. If one looks at the biblical narrative, Joseph, son of Jacob aka Israel, who brought the people of Israel into Egypt to settle in the land of Goshen, was driven in a chariot just behind Pharaoh's. The Egyptians did not have the wheel when the great pyramids were built. By the time the Egyptians had wheels, and horses and chariots, the great pyramids were ancient. Even if one were to determine that the migration of the Sumerian/Chaldean Abraham from the Sumerian city of Ur to the land of the Canaanites took place around the predynastic or early dynastic periods of ancient Egypt, there would still have been no Jews in Egypt at the time -- or anywhere else for that matter. Second, recent scholarship on ancient Egypt has suggested -- concluded, perhaps -- that the pyramids were built by corvees of native Egyptians and undoubtedly of slaves as well, conscripted into temporary service on the pyramids, probably during the flood season when their labor on the farm could be spared. Those who were not actually slaves through warfare or other reasons were subjects of Pharaoh who were made to give their time and effort to a great national cause. Managing these labor gangs were professional craftsmen whose villages near the pyramids have been under excavation and study".

made bricks...lol. so true. and sometimes on the whim of Pharoah, they were not allowed to use straw to hold the bricks together. There was a time when archeaology refused to even admit the Jews were even in Egypt and there is a lot of evidence that proves they did build the pyramids. They were enslaved 450 years there and in that time some of the most well known Pharoahs lived. The Pharoah during the time of Moses was Rameses II and we can still visit his pyramid. It is ludicrous to assume they did not when they were there when they were built and what else do you suppose they did with all those bricks as they did not have brick roads? There are also pyramid pictures that show Jews as slaves working on the pyramids so the scientific assumption is only held by a small group.

They operated a chain of deli's throughout the upper portion of Egypt, specializing in corned beef sandwiches, chicken soup with matze balls, and exotic lamb dishes.
I believe it was known as Mo's Promised Land.
In the mid 20th century, Ray Kroch came across an ancient Egyptian papyrus to that effect, had it translated, added a few modern touches, and McDonald's was born.
Who would have thunk it?

Our thinking on pyramids has evolved considerably over the years. Many of us who are a bit older were taught that the pyramids were built using Jewish slave labor, which is a fabrication of immense proportions. Most of the pyramids were built long before the Jews made their appearance historically and currently, many if not most scholars believe they were not built using slave labor at all (or perhaps a nominal number of slaves).

there is really no proof that the jews ever were in egypt. obviously there is nothing to say that they built any pyramids, and the bible never says that they did either. if the jews ever were in egypt, most likely they were probably a servant class but not really slaves and possibly even considered a minority egyptian community. ancient egypt was extremely multicultural and diverse.

Well, just like now we all know that the majority of jews plan their lives around prosperity. Because, Jesus came along the Jews decided to kill him thus a way to make the economy stirr crazy and provide the jews with more money.
