I think that's pathetic. And being a christian, I still wouldn't do it even if the bible said it was permissable. I'm a christian, but I'm a decent human being first.

God has asked a one of His prophets to marry the prostitute, Gomer, and then forgive her when she ran off and went back to prostitution. If He was going to give permission to punish I think He would have done it then. The most God will allow is a divorce and then only for sexual immorality. God actually tells a man to love his wife as his own flesh. A good man is supposed to be willing to give up his life for his wife.

God would not tell any man to beat his wife. And the bible does not say that it is ok. However the bible does say a man should treat his wife as he would treat his own body. And a man should treat his wife as Christ treats His church.

Anyone who raises his hand to another for any reason other than self defense is unworthy of the air they breathe. I wouldn't care if God came down and specifically requested I beat someone, in this case my kids. I'd have to defy Him, my loved ones come first.
