Sometimes I get the feeling when a person comments that you are spiritual - it is pure sarcasm ! It is almost bad being spiritual.

A church is a political organization. It tells people how they should or should not live. It asks for donations. It is a force in the local community. It even (some) can tell you which politician you should or shouldn't vote for.
That being said, if you are a 'spiritual' person, then what do you need a church for? What purpose does it serve? If you believe that god hears you all the time and that he answers your prayers no matter where you are, no matter what time of day, no matter what the situation, then why would you need a special building to go to once an week to pray? On top of that, this building is essentially useless for the rest of the week. There are millions of homeless people who don't have a roof over their heads at night, yet a giant building stands empty, because 'god' supposedly lives there? Does that make any sense?

1Thes.5:1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

1Thes.5:21 Prove all things, hold fast that which is good.

In most of the TV shows I watch, there's always one obligatory zealous Christian for cheap laughs. It used to be funny, but now it's just overdoing it. It's unrealistic. I'm not Christian at all, I just don't think using the same joke over and over is funny.

it looks like old church or higher church Protestants are returning home to Catholicism. What next perhaps full unite with the ancient Eastern Orthodox churches and the Apostolic Armenian Church.

I've seen this Yahoo Answers Team threaten numerous questioners who had totally harmless questions. The last one, someone asked if anyone had ever layed hands on a sick person and they were healed. The "YAT" responded that their IP address had been reported to authorities. I have noticed I've only seen them do this to inquirers who ask Christian related questions. Are they for real? Are they trying to bully and inimidate Christians? Whats the deal? Are they going to threaten me for this question? Go ahead and cancel my account. If its not an open forum, its worthless anyway.

The Devil, of course, assumed under virtural proof to be the 'darker side' of the human psyche with characteristics like being mostly primal and predatory. Also somewhat miserable and suicidal this devil would have to be considering if he were trying to pry Life from his opponents grasp only to clutch it.
In Either Case, God potentially having more knowledge of how to ... well Do, i guess.

The difference in this ultimatium I'm trying to point out is basically how do you feel he is working. Do you say He's trying to keep everything from destroying us while at the same time shilding us from Truth or is He (how)whatever it was that made this universe and (how)whatever it is that has our Earth still able to sustain life considering all the change we've made (so in essense a scientist with all that effort)?

This is one of those you can't convince anyone either way but I have my mind made up, just trying to see how other people see it.Sorry for all the words.

I'm 29 and teach painting and drawing in college. I get along with my students really well. A couple have expressed interest in keeping in touch after class, etc. I'm anywhere from 5 to 10 years older than them. And if you need a religious dimension to the question in order not to report me, this is a Christian college. What do you think, wise ethicists?

like an office file, and all your cells work like orderly machines with parts ,then common sense tells me someone had to design it.The chances of it just all coming together is 1to the tenth power by one hundred trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion. So theoretically,if the earth is so many millions of years old it is still imppossible to just come together,by accident over the short amount of time. If I tried to throw software together with a computer it would take a design and a creator, theirs no way in the world I can do it by accident even if I had a million years;consequently cells are a billion times more complex than your pc.

I am a freshman in highschool and I am the only Christian in my little group. All of the rest are Jewish. I want to talk to them about Christianity and how Jesus is the son of God but I really dont know historical facts that prove it other that there was alot of sightings of him after his death even from non-believers. Thats all I really know. Does anyone know anymore good facts that could convince them?
