Cows like man have set of teeth that is designed to chew on vegetables, leaves, fruits or grass. Lions and other carnivorous creatures have fangs and strong jaws for breaking bones and ripping flesh of their preys. Your question about the cows of India is being led to insulting their traditions as to why most of people of the world are suffering from hunger while there are available food in India which they do not want to spare.
They have a better argument than us when it comes to the cows they do not want to kill and eat. Maybe you should also try to find the reasons why before you try to make another move about your question.

You'd be suprised; beef and other meat doesn't feed that many people. See, the thing is, the animals must be raised and fed in a certain way, one must grow them special grains, then transport them to the slaughter house and transport the meat back. It is much more efficant to grow veggies or other crops in the fields where you'd be growing grain for the cows.
Besides, cows are the mothers of the univese. The cow provides us with her milk and all products derived from that milk. We should treat her with the same respect we'd give our own mothers.

Actually, daily truckloads of Indian cows are shipped across borders where they feed some Bangladeshis and Pakistanis.
And far from being fed special grains as claimed above, Indian cows eat garbage, providing a much-needed service in many urban areas.

none, because the people would kill us for eating the cows that can't be killed...oh wait...i guess they couldn't kill us then...so what would they do. (not an insult, i promise...just a weird thing if it ever happened)

probably all of them for a while. Of course the lower kaste get to eat last so there may not be anything left for them
