It is said in the Bible that there is only one gospel or, one good news, there are other things that are called the gospel or good news, but they are only perversions. So, what is the unperverted good news?

My previous post (check it out off my profile page if you like) asked about the inability to prove OR disprove the existence of God by mankind. If it is in fact impossible to prove or disprove (in terms of a reasoned, scientific method) His existence, then isn't it just ridiculous for people to waste so much time and invective on the issue? Believe or don't and live in peace. Why does religion become such a contentious issue, when most religions espouse peace on Earth and goodwill to man?

Happy Holidays (and a great big ol' Merry Christmas to my fellow Christians)

By definition, God exists beyond the realm of human understanding. To me, that means mere humans would be incapable of either proving or disproving His existence.

Please chime in with your thoughts, but throughout history some of the greatest minds of all time have failed at this task, and that is why the terms 'faith' and 'belief' seem so appropriate to me.

mohomed's life account was penned about 300 years after his life ended. (iman bukari is living proof)

jesus's life account was written about 40 to 70 years after his death. (paul is my source)

no accurate life details of siddartha (buddha) has never been penned.

same goes for hinduism

so how can any thinking person religious or not take such stories to be historically or literally 100% accurate when the gap is so wide?

(and dont forget that those were times when there was no such things as books, tv, computers , radio or airplanes)

Quran 2:217 They will ask thee about fighting in the sacred month. [202] Say: "Fighting in it is an awesome thing; but turning men away from the path of God and denying Him, and [turning them away from] the Inviolable House of Worship and expelling its people there from - [all this] is yet more awesome in the sight of God, since oppression is more awesome than killing." [Your enemies] will not cease to fight against you till they have turned you away from your faith, if they can.

Why do you think the Quran creates this absurd paranoia here? What enemy of anyone, is so relentless, that they will never ever ever "cease to fight against you till they have turned you away from your faith"?

Even Satan would take a break every once in a while, if that myth were true.

Im thinking that the writer of the Quran creates this "enemy" and max's out the hatred and fear of this manufactured "enemy" because it keeps the sheep in the flock and closed off to the "enemy".

when you pass the stage of becoming a loser into actually being one. Or is loserness not a binary term. Maybe it is spectrum. Your thoughts?

how come you religious nuts (not meaning to insult anyone, it's the way my dad refers to most religious people and it stuck to me, i apologize in advance but i'm not changing my wording) get to say god is everlasting, was always here and always will be while we atheists can't say the same about the universe in one form or another was, is ,and always will be? its just as likely as your so called god being everlasting.

Alot of people think that god is all-knowing, all-loving, blah blah blah etc. But you don't know that.

What our creator could be is an advanced civilization. We could be their science experiment, sort of like an A.I.

That would finally explain why every religion is a crockashit.

theologians and writers say that whatever was written about Abraham was penned only about 6 to 700 years after his life ended. (thats if such a person ever existed in real life)

now how can anyone take his life account to be literally or historically true when the gap between his death and the written account of his life details creates an unbridgeable gap?

Quran 2:98 "whosover is an enemy of God and His angels and His message-bearers, including Gabriel and Michael, [should know that,] verily, God is the enemy of all who deny the truth.

So God is the enemy of all who deny truth...but who wilfully does that? If you deny the truth, but dont know its true, then are you just a victim of your stupidity? Does Allah send to hell people, who he made to stupid to know his obvious truth?

Is he referring to "all truth"? So if you deny to your wife that you ate the cookie, Allah is now your enemy?

"No, its if you deny him, Islam and Muhammad." Of course Islam is false, but lets assume its true. Why would someone, upon learning God's truth, then willfully go "no thanks". Now thats a stupid person.

All humans play along if they believe they will get a reward...study psychology and thats the first this your learn....so why wouldnt every human, upon the certain knowledge of God's truth, not take the ultimate reward? This verse makes no sense

After all, humans only live for a short time. Can anything they do really have any effect upon God or his eternal, unchanging, divine nature? He certainly doesn't seem to do much about their evil behavior.
