After all, humans only live for a short time. Can anything they do really have any effect upon God or his eternal, unchanging, divine nature? He certainly doesn't seem to do much about their evil behavior.

yes, he cares, he created all of us, with the free will of choice to choose to either follow him and have eternal life in heaven or to choose to live our lives in sin and die and go to hell if we do not repent. Everyone answers in the end, for he is the final judge, so the evil will pay if not during their life at the very end. He is the final and ultimate judge. God bless****
