1Thes.5:1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

1Thes.5:21 Prove all things, hold fast that which is good.

THERE SEEMS TO BE A DIFFERENCE IN THE CHILDREN OF THE LIGHT AND OF THE DAY, THAN OF THOSE OF THE DARKNESS AND THOSE CALLED,"THEY."

It's explaining the difference between those of faith and those who are not, those who hold to the Word fast and those who let their flesh rule.

The children of the light are those who are living in the light of the truth, which in none other than Christ Jesus. The children of darkness no nothing of Jesus and therefore cannot understand Jesus. They can talk about Jesus, but they do not know Jesus. Spiritually, Jesus' flock know when the Day of the Lord draws close. Those in darkness cannot possibly know. Otherwise, they would get ready for the Savior. In Matthew Jesus talks about the last days in that they will be like the Days of Noah where man was eating and drinking and getting married. In other words that day of the Great Flood appeared to be like any other day. But, surprise surprise it wasn't. And they had no idea they were about to be flooded off the planet. The same will be when Jesus returns. But those that know Him also know the sign of the times and when this return draws near.

Remember, only Noah and his family survived the Great Flood because he did what God told him he had to do to survive that Judgment. God also warns the world of which it must do to survive the Day of the Lord. Sadly, I don't think many will obey and do this..............You must be born again. John 3:3.

Be ready. And watch.

"Children of the Light", or those that are following a higher power, or according to the Bible, God. But I really think it could be taken as any right path.

They do not fall asleep, means they are awake and aware all the time in a spiritual sense, and they do not let themselves fall into the darkness, meaning evil.

As far as how much more they know, that is incredible.

How much more do you know, how much more information do you have, when just walking around you're room in total darkness, or when you have a flashlight? Or the light is on full.

That is how much more information you can have about the world then "normal", millions and trillions of bits more information. Become one of them.

The author is using a metaphor. To be in "darkness" means to not know of the Lord (Christ). As the Lord will return unexpectedly ("like a thief in the night"), only those who know him (those who are not in the "darkness", aka children of the "light") know that he is returning, so they are therefor of the "day".

Those in "darkness" -- appointed to wrath
Those of the "light" -- have the hope of salvation.

Jesus is the light of the world . the children are all people
not just young .
being of the light is being a believer and follower of the Lord
all of this is saying make sure you are doing the will of God at all times and that you don't think oh its OK i can sin now Jesus is not coming this day i will repent tomorrow.
repent and follow the teaching of Christ and belief he is the son of God and do fear being caught with your hand in the cookie jar and you will be fine.

People of God don't want to party any more, like the people who get drunk all the time and that's what they do
.
Day people OR night people

Children of the light OR Children of the darkness

Child of God OR Child of Satan

WHICH DO YOU CHOOSE TO BE?

I choose to be a child of the Light (Jesus Christ)

Jesus says he is the Way, the Truth and the LIGHT. So to have the light, to have the day, it means you know Christ, you have accepted him, and those that have not are still in darkness. Pretty simple.

It means nobody knows when Jesus is coming. And it could be right in the middle of someone insulting Him and His followers. It means those who are without Him are currently not protected. But those who remain steadfast in the Lord will not fear His coming, their salvation is already clear.

Blessings,
David

Children of light are those people who have been born again by God's Holy Spirit and redeemed from this dark world.

Ephesians 5:8 for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), 10 and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord.

Colossians 1:13 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son,

So what do we know that other people don't know? We know that Jesus is coming again as the conquering King who will gather all of the believers to Himself before destruction comes upon the scoffers who are living in the darkness under the control of the "god" of this world who is the Devil.

2 Peter 3:3 knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. 4 They will say, "Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation."

5 For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God, 6 and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished. 7 But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.

8 But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.

11 Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, 12 waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! 13 But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. 14 Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace.

2 Corinthians 4:3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing. 4 In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 5 For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. 6 For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
