In most of the TV shows I watch, there's always one obligatory zealous Christian for cheap laughs. It used to be funny, but now it's just overdoing it. It's unrealistic. I'm not Christian at all, I just don't think using the same joke over and over is funny.

'Christianity' created and dominated the Western world. Now the world is trying to shrug it off in favor of placing itself as God. Christianity is a practice of denying worldly pleasures in favor of establishing a right relationship with God. Most religions are something along those lines. As with any paradigm change, the old standard must be cast off, rejected, ridiculed, and despised in order to effect the change to the new thing. People are flesh and blood and are very easily led astray by temptations, and since it is obvious when someone messes up, it is easy to point it out and point out the weakness. It is a form of societal engineering through peer pressure. If you embarrass people for acting a certain way, most people will stop acting that way.

Oh come on, I'm a Christian and I know some of us can be down right funny.
The vast majority of us are secure enough in our Faith to laugh right along with you.
In my opinion a God who needs my defense is not worth my Worship.
I know that Christ rises far above any silly South Park Episode or anything else.
Unlike Muslims who continually validate things said about them by their responses, I don't have time for what the World thinks about God. I just asked Him what He thought and He agrees.

Because we ARE the most uptight people on the planet...! It's bad enough NOT measuring up to our earthly father's expectations and all that comes from that... TRY having GOD as your Father and living up to HIS expectations... The problem is ALWAYS everybody else's fault, for some odd reason... After all...? A Christian's love is always soooo UNCONDITIONAL...!!! LOL (The ironic thing is I consider myself to be a Christian, too... But, I can see the world's point of view... After all, as Charles Schultz put it in his "Peanuts" comic strip once - with Linus speaking: "The world may end tomorrow, but I wasn't born yesterday...")

Some 'reasons'.
1. They tend to be forgiving.
2. They can be in your face a bit trying to save your soul, etc. (although this is a glaring stereotype)
3. They are perceived as being a bit stuffy and labelling as 'immoral' what many would call 'a good party'.

It's the same reason that nations fight over the one plot of land in the Middle East that has no oil! Spiritual warfare affects us on every level. Jews and Christians.... the two groups it is acceptable to make fun of pretty much anywhere in the world. Why?

How about this: We serve the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. They war against Him.

Oh, I don't worry about it.... I read the end of the Book. :o)

God Bless,

Sue

Because people don't really understand Christians and what they represent. They've been poked at and chastised because one person will stand on a corner screaming out about you'll die and go to hell and they are judged poorly. What "I" feel? People are afraid of us because of the light that shines from us and they are lacking of knowledge.

It's because genuine christians are different from other people. They have different mindset and opinions when you are in Lord so people tend to find something out of them just to see what could be his/her reaction to a certain situation.

It's not overdoing it. I know several of those zealots IRL. I don't like them, but I know them. I even stopped going to my gym because every time I went there, this zealot was there trying to tell me the error of my ways. I barely know the idiot! They're made fun of, because most people know idiots like that, and can relate. Besides, it's hard for anyone of average intelligence or better NOT to find them hilarious, if a bit troubling.
