Im curious as to what the church thinks of this topic, I mean does anyone really know what God says about marijuana use. It has been around for many many years, but not intill the 1900's was it looked down upon. But what does the catholic church say about it, and is there proof that God disapproves of people using it?

Atheists: Was there a First Cause? Is there a reason for the Big Bang?

Theists: Did God just decide to make everything? Why? If He is perfect, doesn't that suggest that He did not need/want anything?

((I hope nobody is offended by my questions, I am honestly seeking truth.))

You see these cleric's urging people to be martyrs but on record I can not see one of them being a Suicide bomber.but they will probably say that god has told them to teach others in the faith.

There is a lot of things that happen on earth and in heaven that aren't in the Bible, and just because it's not, don't mean that it's not true, I get some of my beliefs from my experiences and others- sources.
If I write something in my question or answer a question, it's true from what I ascertain from my perspective, beliefs-experiences and sources.
example... when I say that there is a copper color fruit in heaven that you can eat, that gives you strenght to withstand God's glory.
It's not in the Bible, but I know it's true.... I wouldn't write it if I didn't think it was true.
So what is your perspective, thoughts on this subject of question?

Love and Peace be with you!

I've read that term a couple of times here today, as criticism for using the abbreviation "XMas." Here is the origin of this usage:

http://www.cresourcei.org/symbols/xmasor...

It reads, in part:

"Abbreviations used as Christian symbols have a long history in the church. The letters of the word "Christ" in Greek, the language in which the New Testament was written, or various titles for Jesus early became symbols of Christ and Christianity. For example, the first two letters of the word Christ (cristoV, or as it would be written in older manuscripts, CRISTOS) are the Greek letters chi (c or C) and rho (r or R)...a symbol that by the fourth century became part of the official standard of the emperor Constantine....by the fifteenth century Xmas emerged as a widely used symbol for Christmas....there is no grand scheme to dilute Christianity by promoting the use of Xmas..."

I'm aware this is not a question and will be deleted, but I thought it was worth sharing.

They joined the largest corporation in the world purely for financial and influencial gain. The govt. new that if people didnt question their religon they would question their government if they were together. Your love cant even be recognised without conforming to government regulations now. That was the most unholy of joinings and no christian will even speak of it.

I followed the Therevada sect, and I am curious if it is ever acceptable to tell 'little white lies' to my friends for the sakes of their feelings. Given that in certain situations nothing will be gained by my honesty, but if I tell them the truth, it would hurt them. Also, is it fair to lie for a friend in any circumstaces?

Silly Pope wants to talk to people from that "other culture" who dont share the same views of pacifism, love or peace and reconciliation. This Pope better understand's the "religion of peace" better than the last, but even he still doesnt get it.

Absolutely nothing can come of this visit other than another Jihadist shotting another Pope. Thats it...thats all that can happen.

Many Christians believe that God sends people to hell for eteranal torment and grief. Forever tortured in the flames of hell. The candiates include even their own family members.

How many Christians out there are so eager to send their "unsaved" family and friends to this type of eternity? Probably none. But their all loving God is very willing. He is the just the kind of mean, nasty, vendictive God that will send their moms, brothers, sisters and children to eternal damnation when they themselves would not. Are Christians more loving and compassionate than their God?

I've had this website address on this site before but I guess not everyone saw it. So here's another chance for those grieving the loss of a furry friend. The truth is they do go to Heaven. God does have plans for our pets and when they die, because they are sinless they do go to Heaven. Visit the following website

I believe Jesus was born during the Jewish feast of Tabernacles.
It is happy celebration and a time of joy and rejoicing. Jesus is our joy. This makes sense.

The Feast of Tabernacles, also called Booths, comes on the fifteenth of Tishri (September-October), the seventh month according to the Jewish (biblical) calendar.

Why? John the Baptist was born during Passover. The angel Gabriel came to Mary to tell her about Jesus in Elizabeth's six month of pregnancy. (luke 1:26)

So three months later John the Baptist was born. Add 8 days for the Passover celebration. Then 6 months less 8 days later, you are SMACK in the middle of the feast of tabernacles. A feast of Joy, comes Jesus. That is why all the rooms were gone in Bethlehem too.

PLUS, the Christmas day and the tree are all Pagan of origin and have nothing to do with Jesus. (Jerimiah)

It is not wrong to celebrate Christ's birth any day. Just trying to let you know, he was born in the feast of joy!

thoughts?

amen.

it to make everyone think it was god being fed up with human existance. Then all the religous nuts would start claiming they say jesus and the second coming. I dont mean to be insulting but I truely believe that is exactly what would happen.

In my religion, the greatest difficultly one will face is overcoming their own obstacles they have placed on themselves. Rather if it is an eating problem or bad habit like smoking or procastrinating. I just wanted to tell you not to give up and you are not an idiot because the inner struggle is the most difficult challenge you will ever deal with. I have been struggling with a problem of procrastinating and extreme impatience and I have finally overcame it! the success seemed unacheiveable, but I finally acheieved the impossible.

Never, never, never, never give up. Its going to be hard and you will fail over and over again, but overcoming struggle is well worth it. When you master yourself, you can master anything!
have you overcame an inner struggle that you wish to share?!

I'm not saying that it's all factual, but that it gives us a better insight into what people thought, felt, needed, were afraid of--we see their dreams and ambitions instead of just dates and occurrences, their perceptions of how things were. History was not recorded well back in those days, we might as well admit it, so for people who want to know what life was like for people back inn those days, the bible is an invaluable resource, agree?

Quran 8:39 SHAKIR “and fight with them until...religion should be only for allah" http://cwis.usc.edu/dept/msa/quran/008.qmt.htmlhttp://cwis.usc.edu/dept/msa/quran/008.qmt.html

The key word is "until". Theres no translation issues here as the best translators of Islamic scripture all use the same word (Yusef Ali, Pikthal, Irving).

If Muslims are to fight "until" all the world is for Allah, then Jihad against the unbelievers is duty of all muslims forever, no matter what the state of affairs may be.

Surah At-Tawba in the Quran reinforces this with another command to "fight all who dont believe in Allah". You need to read this for yourself. It stands to reason that some followers will try to hide these apparant genocide doctrines, while themsleves, still holding them to be true.

Please feel free to use critical thinking. Im not saying "all Muslims are X". I am pointing out that their views on violence are so different, that different results should surprise anyone.
