He said that if me and my friends tried to build a tower to heaven we would get struck down and god would make us speak different languages. He was acting very serious, is this true?

How many of you think the Bible is 100% accurate w/ no streaching of the truth? How many others think that it is like a political document... stretching the truth to get you to "Go for God"?? seriously.. which one?

Does this make christianity a blood cult. Think about it, the icon of christianity is a sacrifised man pinned to the cross, and right before jesus died he said father you forsake me, do this mean jesus regreted what he did...

Do they have to be a married couple? Can you choose two separate single people? Do you need a godmother and godfather or can you have one or the other if there's someone you want but they are single? We have someone in mind but he's not married.

Do they (presumably) have to be baptised themselves?

Can they be family members from either side or do they have to be "neutral"?

We want to have our baby boy (due on 8 December) baptised but having a hard time thinking of who to ask to be Godparents. We thought of my fiance's best friend but he's single (and my best friend is a Hindu!!!)

Any ideas?

I don't believe in God. If that somehow offends you, then I'm sorry but this is me.
What I do want to know is, why do all the belivers out there insist on telling atheists that we are going to rot in hell and that we are bad, bad people for not believing?
I don't hate any of you for believing in God i respect your decisons.
Is it so hard to respect mine?

A person I was with had a Jehovah witness
knock on her door and she told them to get lost
(Putting it VERY mildly!) she then went on a rant of how
those Jehovah Lemmings only knock on your door
to see the inside of your house because when the
end is near, their god told them to pick a house they wanted.
I'M SERIOUS...She truly believes this!
Any truth to her opinion?

I was at a family Thanksgiving party today and my cousin was talking about a ghost that both he, and his wife, have seen in their house quite frequently over the years. Interestingly, my cousin's wife is an atheist, so I am confused as to how someone can be an atheist, and yet also readily acknowledge that he or she has seen some sort of "spirit". Are there atheists who acknowledge spirits (or ghosts) exist, but feel that no spirit(s) is a supreme being?

The J.W.'s claim that Jesus is really the arch-angel Michael, a created being who is not God. How come I don't see them putting that up front when they seek to get people to follow them? Do they wait till they've already got someone showing up for studies and then spring that lulu on them or is it just that they really do tell people right away and I just haven't experienced it?

How come Catholics or any other religion
don't bug the heck out of people with knocking on
their doors to preach THEIR religious beliefs?

Recently I saw a question regarding atheism and Christianity with a very "militant" (to say the least) bias against Christianity, to which I replied with a fitting answer in favor of Christianity. The author of the question in turn called me "closed-minded" for my religious views. But here's the thing: I have really tried my very best to understand all aspects of the subject of religion. There have been times where I was very doubtful of Christianity, and there have been others where I've been very faithful, as well. But after it all, I find myself believing in the Bible. So how can I be closed-minded if I've tried to see all points of view and, at some times, found myself believing other points of view? Has this term, "closed-minded," lost its meaning? Is it really just a liberal scare tactic to get people like me to shut up? Or is this person right - am I closed-minded for believing in Christ? Tell me.

Rhetorical question, I know! : ) Read it quick before it gets deleted!

To the tune of "We Gather Together"

We gather together
To ask lots of questions
We’ve posers and queries
We wish to make known
Like does our god hate us?
Will he incinerate us?
And which lucky kneelers
Will he call his own?

Just who is Ganesha?
And what did he teach ya’?
And was that guy Judas
A hero or chump?
And can you tell me, ma’am,
The pillars of Islam?
If Buddha took the middle way
Why was he so plump?

The trollish among us
Post drivel to bug us
Like “You’re All Reported!”
And “What Should I Do?”
But we do not hate them
We mostly tolerate them
(‘Cause if you report them
Then they’ll report you!)

We thank Yahoo Answers
For gathering together
The atheist, Christian,
The Muslim, the Jew
We’d never have met them,
We never will forget them
Though they raise our blood pressure
We learn from them too.
