Recently I saw a question regarding atheism and Christianity with a very "militant" (to say the least) bias against Christianity, to which I replied with a fitting answer in favor of Christianity. The author of the question in turn called me "closed-minded" for my religious views. But here's the thing: I have really tried my very best to understand all aspects of the subject of religion. There have been times where I was very doubtful of Christianity, and there have been others where I've been very faithful, as well. But after it all, I find myself believing in the Bible. So how can I be closed-minded if I've tried to see all points of view and, at some times, found myself believing other points of view? Has this term, "closed-minded," lost its meaning? Is it really just a liberal scare tactic to get people like me to shut up? Or is this person right - am I closed-minded for believing in Christ? Tell me.

believing in Jesus does not make you closed minded at all ... if you can at the same time understand and respect other beliefs... which it sounds as though you do

please dont worry about what this person has said .... we are never liked by everyone at the same time and there will always be those who dont understand us or oppose our beliefs

No for anyone to subscribe to any belief you must be a little close minded, there really is no way around it. Even Atheist are subject to this, because they subscribe to the belief that there is no God, with out proof. I think Atheist tend to use the term toward religious people because some time religious people close their minds to scientific theory. When in the past science has made thousands claims that have been proven right. The bible makes many claims that are clearly and obviously wrong, when you can see physical evidence of something being wrong and you deny that it is wrong or you twist the meaning so that it sounds right to you, is I'm sorry to say, close minded. You can't really believe that bats are birds and insects only have 4 legs do you?

I don't believe that you are closed minded at all. It appears that you can listen to both sides of a story. There is nothing wrong with believing in the Bible and being a Christian. I find that people scream "closed minded" when trying to get you to believe what they believe in. I would say that they are closed minded for not allowing you to have your beliefs.

Perhaps he was a bit defensive when confronted with your response. Sometimes I think non-Christians respond in this manner as a means of dismissing a belief that they think is less worthy. Sounds like he was "closed-minded" himself. I am also a follower of Christ, and find myself fascinated by other religions and what makes people believe what they do. Thank you for standing up for Christianity.

Well, i don't know what you told this person, but it seems as if you took the right approach and were open minded...certainly not closed minded...closed minded would be saying that you had to be a christian or you have to be jewish or muslim or atheist and that was the only thing to it...From the looks of it, this person was being closed minded.
Good for you for sticking up for what you belief in. There are alot of people out there who make fun of Christians because its not something they understand. I'm sure that is why people make fun of alot of things.

Doubtless you'll have many Christians running to your defense, but to me, Christianity itself is very close-minded. Christians are not encouraged to think freely. Christians are encouraged to be meek sheep with Christ as their shepherd. Personally, because of everything that has been done in the name of Christ (gay bashings and beatings, thinking that everyone else is wrong about God, oppressing other religions, lobbying to have their religious symbols on courthouse lawns when no other religion can, the systematic oppression of women), I cannot see how anyone in good conscience can call himself or herself a Christian. To me, that is why I think you are close-minded for being a Christian.

No. Closed minded is believing in something to the exclusion of all other possibilities. Fortunately God is infinite in abilities and cannot be pigeon holed into the tiny box man would like to place Him in. Anyone who claims to have 100% of the answers is in denial. We will only know when we are given the information in the afterlife. Until then we cannot fathom the limitless possibilities of God with our limited human intellects.

Believeing is Jesus Christ does not make you close minded at all. Doubting your faith is a temptation from Satan. Sometimes we feel far away from God. You see the truth that Jesus Christ is real. This makes you anything but close minded.

ONE Faith, Many Religions

There are many religions (as an example - Gal.1:13 below, the Jews’ religion), but one faith (Eph.4:5 below).

Eph.4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

When we are baptized into Christ Jesus by the Holy Spirit we BECOME a “new creature” (2 Cor.5:17, Gal.6:15 below). We become, individually, as well as collectively, the living body of Christ (Col.1:24 below). We become the church of God (1 Cor.10:32 below, 1 Cor.1:2, 1 Cor.15:9, Gal.1:13), the one faith (Eph.4:5 above).

2 Cor.5:17Therefore if any man be in Christ, he IS a new creature (Gal.6:15 below): old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Gal.6:15For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature (2 Cor.5:17 above).

Col.1:24Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for His body's sake, which IS the church (1 Cor.10:32, Gal. I:13, 1 Cor.1:2).

1 Cor.10:32Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God (Eph.2:16 below).

Eph.2:16 And that he might reconcile BOTH (Jews and Gentiles - 1 Cor.10:32 above) unto God in one body (the church of God - 1 Cor.10:32 above) by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

Gal.1:13For ye have heard of my (Paul's) conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God (1 Cor.10:32 above), and wasted it.

We are all equal, when are they going to realise this?
