The J.W.'s claim that Jesus is really the arch-angel Michael, a created being who is not God. How come I don't see them putting that up front when they seek to get people to follow them? Do they wait till they've already got someone showing up for studies and then spring that lulu on them or is it just that they really do tell people right away and I just haven't experienced it?

Sure, if you already know and ask them they will tell you but if you don't know when do they usually let you in on it?

You see... God does work in incredible ways and you just did a part of it without even knowing! Check this out...

You asked the question above. Just earlier this morning, 2 JW ladies showed up at my door. They were nice, we chatted about the bible and the world/society for about 15 min. and they left. I'm a new Christian and am actively working on my growth. The JW's weren't pushy at all; mind you, I was able to keep up with our conversations about God's laws.

I thought about them a few times later today. They arrived at my home, unannounced. They looked good, smelled good - fresh - and very happy and polite.

And then there was me... only been up a little over 1 hr; realized much later that I forgot to take my magnesium to help with depression and I started having 'foggy head' (as I call it); unshowered, messy and started thinking that maybe if I was a JW, I'd have it more 'together'.

Then, I started to wonder about JW's and maybe God was calling me. Different JW's have landed at my door since living here for the past 4 years.

So.. you come in tonight with your question. I knew nothing about this Michael = Jesus stuff and went researching. I found a thesis written by someone (URL) and they discredit it. Another way of God helping me realize that I am on the right track and not to be distracted. He did it through you.

Thanks!

BTW... if you see anyone looking for God's had at work, point them here.

Jesus did not command that Christians go from house to house to condemn abortion, or protest for civil rights, or to collect money for the poor. There was a particular theme on which Christian ministers are to concentrate.

(Matthew 24:14) And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations

(Luke 9:6) They went through the territory from village to village, declaring the good news

Sadly, so-called "religious" activists distract from the real message of God and obfuscate the bible's "good news of the kingdom". These self-absorbed religionists focus so much attention of their human agendas that they ignore the godly teachings that can really help people.

Jehovah's Witnesses go from house to house to encourage and upbuild. Their work is to spread the "Good News", which is about the Kingdom of God, and the blessings the Messianic King Christ Jesus will bring.

(Luke 8:1) Journeying from city to city and from village to village, preaching and declaring the good news of the kingdom of God

(Acts 10:36) Declare to them the good news of peace through Jesus Christ

First, Jehovah's Witnesses do not seek converts to follow them. They are Christians who follow Jesus' example by telling people everywhere the good news of God's Kingdom. They follow Jesus as their Leader, not any human.

Before a person becomes one of Jehovah's Witnesses and can be baptized as such, he or she must have a basic knowledge of Bible teachings. This includes the truth about Jesus who is not God, but God's son, and who has other names & titles, including "Michael."

Who Is Michael the Archangel?

THE spirit creature called Michael is not mentioned often in the Bible. However, when he is referred to, he is in action. In the book of Daniel, Michael is battling wicked angels; in the letter of Jude, he is disputing with Satan; and in Revelation, he is waging war with the Devil and his demons. By defending Jehovah’s rulership and fighting God’s enemies, Michael lives up to the meaning of his name—“Who Is Like God?” But who is Michael?

At times, individuals are known by more than one name. For example, the patriarch Jacob is also known as Israel, and the apostle Peter, as Simon. (Genesis 49:1, 2; Matthew 10:2) Likewise, the Bible indicates that Michael is another name for Jesus Christ, before and after his life on earth. Let us consider Scriptural reasons for drawing that conclusion.

Archangel. God’s Word refers to Michael “the archangel.” (Jude 9) This term means “chief angel.” Notice that Michael is called the archangel. This suggests that there is only one such angel. In fact, the term “archangel” occurs in the Bible only in the singular, never in the plural. Moreover, Jesus is linked with the office of archangel. Regarding the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ, 1 Thessalonians 4:16 states: “The Lord himself will descend from heaven with a commanding call, with an archangel’s voice.” Thus the voice of Jesus is described as being that of an archangel. This scripture therefore suggests that Jesus himself is the archangel Michael.

Army Leader. The Bible states that “Michael and his angels battled with the dragon . . . and its angels.” (Revelation 12:7) Thus, Michael is the Leader of an army of faithful angels. Revelation also describes Jesus as the Leader of an army of faithful angels. (Revelation 19:14-16.) And the apostle Paul specifically mentions “the Lord Jesus” and “his powerful angels.” (2 Thessalonians 1:7; Matthew 16:27; 24:31; 1 Peter 3:22) So the Bible speaks of both Michael and “his angels” and Jesus and “his angels.” (Matthew 13:41) Since God’s Word nowhere indicates that there are two armies of faithful angels in heaven—one headed by Michael and one headed by Jesus—it is logical to conclude that Michael is none other than Jesus Christ in his heavenly role.

The same reason the mormons keep a lot on the back-burner. Like "the Israelites came over to South America on a raft" and "God has his own god-planet". Never even MIND about the underwear :)

If you ask them up front they will tell you all the wacky stuff they believe. On the other hand a Scientologist will act like you don't know what you're talking about if you ask them about Xenu but will spill the beans after you've sunk hundreds of thousands of dollars into their scam.

There is much said to get you "in". From what I've learned from another ( a past JW, pretty bad experience) getting out is the hard part.
