How often communion should be done is not prescribed in the Bible. Paul said, "For as often as you eat this bread and drink from this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes." (I Corinthians 11:26)
At the time of Paul's writing, the church did celebrate communion every Sunday. I think that those churches that don't offer communion every Sunday do so for one of two reasons: They are trying to be as opposite of the Roman church as possible, or: They want it to be special, and they believe every Sunday cheapens the significance.
Regardless, I think that "...Each one must be fully convinced in his own mind." (Romans 14:5b)

In the first century the Christians met upon the first day of the week for the purpose of partaking of the Lord's supper. (Acts 20:7) Every week has a first day.
In the Old Testament, when the law of Moses said "remember the Sabbath", they realized each week had a Sabbath.
Churches that don't see the example of taking the Lord's supper each first day don't seem to have a problem understanding that a collection should be taken each week. (1 Cor. 16:1-2)
Some say if you take the communion that often it becomes too commonplace and loses its meaning. Would you use this same logic for other areas of worship? Should we only pray twice a year so it won't be too commonplace?
If we loose the meaning of commanded acts of worship, the problem goes far deeper than how often it is practiced. If we love Christ and keep our focus on him, remembering him once a week in this way should be something we look forward to! It's a matter of attitude.
In the Bible, the Lords Supper is described as often and done steadfastly. Acts 2:42 says "And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers." How can twice a year be described in this way?
We take the Lords Supper to remember Christ! (1 Cor 11:24-25) Should a Christian really only remember Christ twice a year?

I attend a Methodist church and we take communion on the first Sunday of every month.
I'm fairly new to church so I can't tell you about others. Ask your minister why? I'm curious too.

The New Testament makes no exact statement on the frequency, but infers that it was every week and the central purpose for the Christian assembly.
Justin Martyr, writing in 156 AD, long before most of the apostasy that became the catholic church, wrote of Christians taking it every Sunday:
And on the day called Sunday, all who live in cities or in the country gather together to one place, and the memoirs of the apostles or the writings of the prophets are read, as long as time permits; then, when the reader has ceased, the president verbally instructs, and exhorts to the imitation of these good things. Then we all rise together and pray, and, as we before said, when our prayer is ended, bread and wine and water are brought, and the president in like manner offers prayers and thanksgivings, according to his ability, and the people assent, saying Amen; and there is a distribution to each, and a participation of that over which thanks have been given, and to those who are absent a portion is sent by the deacons.

it does not be a sin, in basic terms not suitable. with the intention to get carry of Communion, you'll be baptized and interior the state of grace. while you at the instant are not a working in direction of Catholic ( weekly Mass) you at the instant are not interior the state of grace. Many parishes have First Communion formerly reconciliation because of the fact toddlers at the instant are not in a position, at that age to commit mortal sin. this is not their fault that they can't attend Mass because of the fact of their mom and dad. consequently the mom and dad of the applicants for First Communion attend academic instructions and are inspired to get carry of the sacrament with their toddler for the period of the 1st Communion Mass. If the youngster is older or no count if it somewhat is an individual that has not made their First Communion, this is the custom of the guy to attend RC IA instructions. while that particular is waiting, they'll get carry of the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, confirmation and Eucharist. Baptism forgives sins and the Sacrament of Reciliation would be won later. Your niece would bypass up for Communion together with her hands crossed over her chest as an indication that she would not choose Communion yet a blessing, because of the fact the priest would not understand her on your parish. examine mutually with your pastor first to be sure that it somewhat is the way it somewhat is finished on your parish.

The purpose of the Sacrament, as the LDS Church calls it, is to partake every Sunday except during those times General Conferences are held.
The Sacrament is our way of refreshing the covenants we made at baptism--to renew our dependence and love in Jesus Christ.
For me, church services aren't complete unless I can take the sacrament.

You can do it however many times as you want..
Jesus said only "as often as you do this" it should be in remembrance of Him. It seems not to attach any mandatory time schedule to the sacred ordinance.
