What is your favorite flavour of ice cream. I prefer chocolate. Do you think Atheists who don't like chocolate aren't true Atheists, like some Christians think gay Christians aren't true Christians (see a previous question of mine this evening), I think you can like something other than chocolate and still be a true Atheist.

Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand persons were added that day. They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to the communal life, to the breaking of the bread and to the prayers. Awe came upon everyone, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. All who believed were together and had all things in common; they would sell their property and possessions and divide them among all according to each one's need. (Acts 2:41-45 NAB)

I had an experience in the grocery store several years ago. I saw three guys walking in as I was leaving. Two were sort of average build, but one was tall with dark hair. When I saw the taller guy, it was like I was seeing my best friend that I have ever had and hadn't seen in years. I actually started to call him by name to say hi, but as I soon as I opened my mouth and took a breath to speak, it was like the veil was closed immediately and I thought to myself "I don't know that guy at all." It was really strange and the experience has stayed with me ever since.

This was not a case of deja vu. I didn't think I had been in that situation before or remembered the situation, it was like I knew this single person better than anyone I have ever known, and then realized I didn't know him at all. I went back into the store to try to find them, but I did not see them again. You can offer all the comments you like, but I wonder if anyone else has experienced anything like this?

Have you ever been a different denomination than the one you currently are? (If you are a member of a specific denomination.)

What do you feel is better about the one you are now?

Do you miss anything about your old one?

The muslim is the person who works in your hospital as a consultant for heart surgery or helping to deliver a baby.
They act as lawyers for you in court or as solicitors to arrange your mortgage.
They teach in your schools, helping your your children to get the qualifications they need for jobs.
They own restaurants and shops keeping you fed and supplied 24/7.
One of them may even be trying to bring home the ashes for England!
They put up with ignorance and abuse, and are more often than not are the victims of violence and hate.
So what's the problem? Would our society not be so much the poorer without them?

i really need the money ($238.00 of it) to pay my light bill or they will turn off the electricity, and we are out of food. i have sent benny money several times before as he says that you sow what you reap. i only wish i could sow more, then maybe i would not be in this predicament. benny says that this is the toughest time of the year to get donations for his ministry, so i think sending the money is the right thing to do. any advice?

One of the big problems with religion is the timeframes involved.
Geologically, we can trace things about 4 1/2 billion years back, compared to religions paltry 4 1/2 thousand or so...
I guess thats only a factor of a million so some would be happy, but will the story change as science progresses, or will mythology become irrelevant?
The premise of the bible is to start with some unbelievable stuff- like the people living 900 years and stuff. A bit like a kids story...for example- an old lady that lived in a shoe... this sets the scene that the following story is going to challenge reality.
And then the circular justification that the bible must be true because it says so in the bible... But to be fair, all religions are the same, a set of moral guidelines for the feeble.
I just wonder how they will change to suit what we already know...

Hi, I am a 24 yr old guy with lust problem. I want to be celibate for the next 5 years or more so I can focus on reaching my dream, becoming successful, and living fulfilling life. I really can't afford to be bothered by lust problem anymore.
But it is extremely hard for a guy like me to maintain celibacy when I am having hard time even maintaining virginity. How can I maintain celibacy and resist the temptation whenever it comes? What kind of advice would you give for a guy with high hormone level like me?

It's interesting that many atheists reject the idea of a divine creator / being who has existed forever, because this being must have been "created" at some point. At the same time, they are OK with matter having always existed, even if as a singularity prior to the Big Bang. Why the dichotomy?

For those who would answer that science is OK with the answer "we don't know yet", I would respond that the concepts of God and eternity are just as mysterious to us. Exactly what is God's nature? We don't know yet. But we have an idea.

I ask to understand, not to convert (well, not yet anyway...) Thanks!

My special congratulations to you", because most of the people who believe in God are doing blind belief - he is a Christian, because his father, mother, country is a Christian; he is a Hindu, because his father, mother, country Hindu; the majority of the people in the world are blindly following the religion of their fathers. An atheist, on the other hand, even though he may belong to a religious family, uses his intellect to deny the existence of God; what ever concept or qualities of God he may have learnt in his religion may not seem to be logical to him.
