Okay.....I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and try to give you an answer....that maybe you can understand.

First of all, speaking in tongues is a form of speaking to God, to pass on a message to another person God wants to speak to, or something the church needs to be addressed about........like a prophecy (a telling of something that going to come about in the future). Okay.....when I'm praying to God for example in regular English, the Holy Spirit comes upon me, and I feel the presence of God.......ok...I'm now in different "zone" if you wish. Now as I'm praying, my tongue won't speak English no more...even if I'm trying to form the words. I find myself speaking in another language to God. He knows what I'm saying, and sometimes I know what I'm saying even if I've never heard that language before. Other times I have no clue what I'm saying. It's a spiritual happening.....not earthly or natural. If it ever happened to a person, they'll soon understand that they are under God's control during that time.

I don't know WHY we speak in a different language, but that's God's doing. It's not for us to know. Some people "make up" their tongues, which is not biblical......I'm talking about the real speaking in tongues, which is uncontrollable by the person doing it. Another entity has taken over their tongue, so that they speak involuntarily in another language.....it's all for those that are spiritual.

Like the other person said it IS only for those that understand, so if you still don't get it, it's not given to you to understand. I hope and pray to God that I have not wasted my time, trying to be patient with you and helping you out.

If we dont' use the bible as our guide, than we can only go by the opinions of man, and how can we trust imperfect sinners. Please just consider this one verse. Just one.
I Corinthians 14:19
"I would rather speak five words with understanding, that I might teach others, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue."
Tongues is not blabbering in an unknown tongue, this is a counterfeit/false tongues. The biblical tongues is only used to teach the gospel message when their is a language barrier. Please friends let us reason out of the scriptures together!
Amen

I've heard of the Gift of Tongues, is this what you mean by praying in tongues?

It is because they simply do not know. They are using their faith, which often defies logic. And there are many other evangelicals who disregard the experience, totally. Some of them are quite disrespectful about it.

It's a personal communication with God. We receive the Holy Spirit and are blessed with that gift. We don't really know what we're saying but the words are given to us by God.

I already told you...IT IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS.

Open your ears ! You are not suppose to understand.
If you are so foolish not to repent of sin and you want to reject eternal life then you have NO business knowing about the Holy Spirit.

" For the natural man receives NOT the things of the Spirirt of God , for they are foolishness unto him, neither can he know them, for they are spiritually discerned" - I Corin. 2:14

I am not an evangelical, but could be very disrespectful about it. God does not work in ways that do not make sense.
