Don't feel bad. That is a tricky question to answer. Some good questions to use to answer that are the following: Does it bring honor and glory to God? Does it hurt someone, you or someone else? In answering these, we find that the context of the situation is important. We know that thinking about adultery or fornication is as much as sin as committing those acts. Can you masturbate without thinking about committing those acts? We also know that giving something that belongs to your spouse to someone else is a sin called adultery. Are you giving something to yourself that belongs to your spouse? Put another way, are you depriving your spouse of sexual contact which is God ordained? If your spouse is included in the experience and not deprived, then it is not sin. Are you spending so much time masturbating that you are neglecting prayer or bible study or fellowship or another service to God? ANYTHING you put before God is a sin, including masturbation, golf, food, and other things. Answer these questions honestly. God does not wish to torment you. God wants you to be happy. Honoring God will please him. In short, it is easier to say it is not sin if you are married. It is not impossible to say that it is not sin if you are single, but it is more difficult due to the controlling your thoughts issue. As a married person, thinking about your spouse is ok.

Not being a practicing Christian I don't have any definitive answers for you. If you google masturbation and Christianity you get some pretty cool threads and web links. I found one rather down to earth and succinct. As long as you are doing it in moderation and are not harming anyone by it, I say go for it. I did like this guys view about lust. Intentions mean a lot i guess, even when you're all alone.

I know if I didn't do it, the stress would build up inside of me to such a degree that I would have a nervous breakdown. Could just be me. ;-) Check out this link and google those two words together.

I'm not Christian, so I can't represent that religion, but I can tell you what I would say, seeing as all religions are basically the same ideas. Okay well I am a Vaishnava (commonly known as Hare Krishna), and the reason we refrain from illicit sex is because sex is a material pleasure that ties us to this world. It's just one form of sense gratification. By serving our senses we drift further from God because we become too focused on material desires, pleasures, success, etc. That includes masturbation. However, it is natural for people to have these desires, but it can be overcome by focusing yourself on attaining God consciousness.

I hope that was some help, despite the discrepancy of religion.

Peace

Masturbation is not prohibited anywhere in the Bible. Some Churches claim it is, but I have questioned the religious leaders and they can not produce Scripture to support their beliefs.

Masturbation is not mentioned in the 10 Commandments nor in Leviticus or elsewhere.

I read somewhere that 9 out of 10 men admit masturbating and 1 out of 10 lie about not doing it.

Women apparently do not readily admit to it, but in private 100% of the Christian women I have dated in my life eventually admitted masturbating.

Excessiveness in anything can be a matter of concern.

I hope that helps.

Anything that does not glorify God is a sin. One of the fruits of the spirit is self control. When temptation knocks at the door in any form, Chirstians are expected to practice self control.

1 Cor 7:8-9 Now I say to those who aren't married and to widows - its better to stay unmarried just as I am. But if they can't control themselves, they should go ahead and marry. It's better to marry than to burn with lust.

God made sex to be shared between married couples and not to be abused for self gratification.

No, it's not a sin.

It's normal and healthy to masturbate. If you want to masturbate, then masturbate, it's your business. If you do it too much, it's not good for your body/mind. You don't need anybody to tell what is too much or too little, if you are honest with yourself, you know.

You don't need to feel guilty. It's your body and your life. Do what you think is right. God gave you a mind to think for yourself.

If masturbation was a sin, God wouldn't have made your arm long enough for your hand to reach your "cash & prizes".

Actually, this is quite funny, because I was taughtabout this just a few weeks ago.
I'm sure you know about lust.
Lust is sin, love is not.
We want to love and honor God.
If we are lusting, then we are not honoring Him.
If we are lusting while mastrubating. then we are not honoring Him.
