All people sin... why can a person go to church after taking the lords name in vain... which is worse being gay or taking the lords name in vain... yet we let those who take the lords name in vain still call themselves christain.

For there same reason that there are drunk Christians, or adulterous Christians, or thieving Christians. The Christian life involves growth. Each person, when they make their commitment to Jesus, begins where they are in terms of their morals and desires. As they continue in their Christian growth, they are suppose to be growing more and more holy each day. It is not automatic. It takes work, and a daily commitment to "take up your cross" and do what he is calling you to do.

CS Lewis explained it by saying "if you want to know how strong a hold a sin as on your life, resist it for a couple weeks." As Christians strive to follow God, they realize how strong a hold certain sins have in their lives. So manage to overcome them. Others do not. Not because God does not have the power to help them overcome, but because they don't make the effort to do it.

When a Christian brother is overcome by a sin (homosexuality, adultery, alcohol, lying, anger, or anything), the responsibility of the other Christians is to try to restore him. To give him the support, aid, counsel, etc, he needs to overcome the issue. If a person will not turn from their sin, then the Bible says they are to be treated "like an unbeliever". Christians are to pray for them, and having friendships designed to reach and convert them, but not to have the "brother" relationship with them that exist between true Christians.

When a Christian leader is overcome by a sin, he should first be removed from his position. After that, efforts should be made to restore him - not to leadership, but a clean and sin-free lifestyle. Whether he can or should ever return to a place of leadership will depend on whether he can get his life back in to proper order.

As far as the issues of Christians and homosexuality: I have read estimates that place the number of homosexuals in the population from as high as 10% to as low as 2%. If you take the time to actually count how many of the thousands of Christians priest, pastors, etc. that are involved in homosexual activity, it is way below the 10% that many argue is the norm for homosexuals. It is even far below the 2% of the most conservative estimates. So I find it difficult to see how there are "so many homosexual Christians".

What is the punishment for the Hypocrite ? As punishment in Dante's world, the hypocrite would be adorned with beautifully colored cloaks that reached from neck to ankle---but were lined with lead. They were eternally weighted down by the falseness of their appearance. So who are we to judge ? Leave it up to the Father Almighty and he will do the Judging.
I never heard there were so many homosexual's, That sound somewhat exagerated. Another kick in the groin for the Christians. Stop picking on the Christians.

There are no "homosexual Christians". If anyone thinks this is an untrue statement then disprove it using the Bible and Bible alone.

They call themselves "Christian" but they in fact deny Christ.

Should Christians kick them out or something/
Again, no, it is not our place to judge them for the abomination before God. They can still make the choice to turn from their wicked ways and repent. Only God can judge them. However, we do know them by their works(fruits) and we should be an example unto them, as Christ was and is our example.

Peace and Grace

Oh my-- I was astounded at some of the rhetoric and hatred and nonsense spouted in response to this question. Fr_Chuck I especially expected more of. Isn't it obvious? Doesnt the sum total of Jesus' teaching equal love? And did he not love the harlot as much as the pious one? For all sin is sin. And as you treat the least of these, so you have treated Him. It is not for us to judge; He makes that clear. God alone knows a mans heart. I would rather share bread with a homosexual who has a good heart, than a man who follows every bit of the bible but has nothing but bitterness and meanness in his. Think about it. And shame on the pastors and the priests. How can you lead when you know not love?

What kind of churches do you go to Jim, that you know SOOO many of these abounding homosexuals? I've been in a fair number of Biblical churches since I've been saved, and while all are welcome to hear the Gospel, there are NO homosexual members in any Biblical churches I've ever attended. I must assume, then that you're fabricating these silly fantasies? Give us something better than ice-cream and THIS as an argument, PLEASE! You do a disservice to your fellow atheists!

There are no homosexual Christians

" Do not be deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, NOR HOMOSEXUALS.....shall inherit the kingdom of God" ...... And such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God". (I Corin. 6:9-11)

You can be set free from this demonic sin , Jim Darwin, through the power of Jesus Christ. Many homosexuals have been completely set free to live a holy life through the power of Jesus Christ

Homosexuality is only one sin of many in the bucket.
Its important to bring homosexuals to accept Jesus as their savor, once they do that everything will fall into place.

Good Christians, if they are truly good, will love their neighbors as God loves them, regardless of their hobbies.

Homosexuality, or any kind of sexuality is an act of free will.
Last time I checked, we still have free will.

All desire of flesh is sinful by nature, as flesh is not of the spirit.

Don't be ashamed of your desires. God gave them to you as well!
