I'm not saying that it's all factual, but that it gives us a better insight into what people thought, felt, needed, were afraid of--we see their dreams and ambitions instead of just dates and occurrences, their perceptions of how things were. History was not recorded well back in those days, we might as well admit it, so for people who want to know what life was like for people back inn those days, the bible is an invaluable resource, agree?

Oh of course it does, and what they thought was very flawed by our standards today. Man kind changes through time, we should not be stifled by some archaic text.

Possibly. It has some POTENTIAL insights into feelings, but you must remember that it, like any other story, (and that is ALL it is, until proven otherwise) is filtered through they eyes of those who wrote it, often being altered later by people with different views. It's NOT an accurate lens into the past!

As for history not being recorded: UNTRUE! Egyptians, Sumerians and Hebrews, among just a few, DID record facts about daily life, battles, cities that rose and fell. Later on, the Romans were meticulous historians, so that statement is only true about the prehistoric events referred to in the Bible, such as the "creation" of the world, etc. NOBODY knows when, exactly, we became human, not even archaeologists!

you could desire to no longer have the flexibility to appreciate it. I know that folk think of that they are somewhat clever, yet God wrote the Bible in a manner that we could understand. we've extra intelligence on the instant than we ever did and we nonetheless don't recognize plenty. looking back on history till now 1900 human beings did no longer understand electrical energy, autos, desktops ect and how might they understand a scientific e book written via present day guy? If God wrote a scientific e book we on the instant would not have a clue a thank you to appreciate it. the errors in thinking is (thinking that we are clever and comparing ourselves to human beings of the previous) whilst we study guy with different adult men we arise clever, if we study ourselves to God then we fall rather short. God will supply the Christians a genuine history lesson, however the others could have take it because it comes.

It is a collection of folk tales from some obscure quasi-nomadic Semitic tribes. It has historical / anthropological relevance for that reason alone. Of course, the fact that it became such a powerful force in the development western civilization and has contributed to the death and destruction of millions of human lives also makes it of some academic interest. If religious belief can be shown to have its basis in brain bio-chemistry, that too will be interesting.

First, very little recorded in written form 2000 years ago. Besides, look how difficult it is to get the true story even with today's technology.

i think that the bible does give us a better feel for the ppl of that time but some of the storys are more for a moral value then a factual one, even being a christian myself it would probbly be better to get your information from a history book since virtually all of the information can be backed up

Lately I prefer to watch CNN.Many of the things in the bible could be applied to general circumstances past, presently or in the future. Bible codes are more interesting.

Only if those thoughts and fears were accurately recorded, otherwise, you might as well say that Enid Blyton books were an accurate reflection of Britain in the Fifties.

what are you talking about?!?! How the hell does the bible represent an ACCURATE history when it is FULL of CONTRADICTION?!?! That is a load of bull

If anything, the bible is a means of controlling the population using fear. THAT may be the only thing the bible can show us of history, controling people by fear.

No. The Bible is pretty inaccurate and biased, full of self contradictions and fantasies that are clearly not true.

No, the bible only gives one person's perspective on any given event, therefore is biased and inaccurate.

The bible is there to simply keep you under control and afraid, plain and simple. They're fairy tales to live a life by and nothing more. If anything comes true in the bible it's because psychopathic people in administrations like ours make it so to encourage all the brainwashed christians and catholics to keep following and believing. Want to hear somthing ironic? Your government, the American government classifies Christianity & Catholicism as cults. think about it, be well, jack
