Those of you who do not believe the Bible to be the word of God- why do you try so hard to find error in it? Are you slightly not sure? Is there a part of you that feels it just may be God's actual word? I am amazed at how many people come on here and try to find fault with God when there is no fault with God. It just reall saddens me..I wish so much you could see the truth of God's word...

Please share your thoughts. This was (is supposed to be) a Christian program with a Preacher & his family setting examples for us (the tv audience). Granted for story line purposes the kids did crazy things. But on every episode this season they are lying to each other, flat out! And dont apologize at the end of the show for the lies (to let us know that lying is wrong) and the Preachers wife even cussed last night! What example is this setting for sinners? " Hey, just say Lord Im sorry and do whatever you want to do." Where are the real Christian programs? Besides the preachers preaching in pulpits.

Please vent here.

George Bernard Shaw. one of Europe's most famous figures said
of the prophet Muhammad (pbuh):
"I have always held the religion of Muhammad in high estimation because of its wonderful vitality. It is the only religion which appears to me to possess that assimilating capacity to the changing phase of existence which can make itself appeal to every age. I have studied him - the wonderful man and in my opinion far from being an anti-Christ, he must be called the Saviour of Humanity. I believe that if a man like him were to assume the dictatorship of the modern world, he would succeed in solving its problems in a way that would bring it the much needed peace and happiness: I have prophesied about the faith of Muhammad that it would be acceptable to the Europe of tomorrow as it is beginning to be acceptable to the Europe of today."

Michael Hart ranked him number 1 in his book:
A Ranking of the Most Influential Persons in History.

Having faith in a God is not having proof. By definition faith is trust without proof. But, (and this is a big but) those that insist that they know for sure because of some book, are very brave. To depend on absolutes and to anchor all that defines your understanding of yourself and the world around you in certainties that you can in no way be certain of, is a risky endeavor.
All of the brightest minds of the 13th century were positive that the earth was flat and that a person would be in danger of falling off the edge if they sailed too far west. And it was once a crime to suggest that the Earth was not the center of the universe with the sun, stars, and planets revolving around us. And all along the eastern seaboard the very people who started, what would become the United States of America, began killing men, women and children (mostly women) in the name of God. The very people they sat in church with on Sunday, or traded goods with on a daily basis. They were just as sure about there right to kill these “witches” (and that there were witches) as some people are that God loves us so much that he gave his only son in payment of our sins. And left us the choice to burn in a fire pit of eternal suffering or walk with him. (That’s love right there, I don’t care who you are}
For those of you that are certain about Jesus and God, I would love to have the following few passages from the bible explained. There are many more passages like these in the old and new testament. Remember kids if you are going to use the bible to justify your position, you can't just pick and choose what you want to use. And please don't try and tell me what it was suppose to mean or give me any bull about hidden meaning of some kind unless for some reason my bible was missing the decoder ring. It says what it says and we all must deal with it on those terms. Thank you
Genesis 6:6-7 God was sorry he ever made us?
Did he not see this coming? How can he regret something he did on purpose? Or did he make a mistake?
Exodus 21 all of it with focus on v2, 7-10 *sells his daughter as a slave? v20 you can beat a slave as long as they don't die?
Exodus 21 is the continuation of a conversation Moses has with God on Mt. Sinai right after he gives him the 10 commandment (Exodus 20)
Before using the Jesus came to change these things reasoning on these passages read
Matthew 5:17-20 he didn't come to destroy the Law of Moses.

Preacher: Kindly Note.

Dear Sir,
I appreciate your well-intentioned reply and I sincerely thank you. I myself used to believe in the doctrine of the trinity, but I decided not to just go along with the religions of my fore-Fathers but to seek and find answers for myself based on accurate knowledge. The truth, precious one, is that the doctrine of Trinity is founded on paganism and there are many pagan gods with one head and three faces. Like many today, I am sure you would want to go beyond ages of dogmatism and seek out accurate information for yourself. The truth is that the Holy Spirit is God’s active force, a helping force and not a person.. Think of the many hundreds of people that the Holy Spirit was poured on ---in the second chapter of Acts. You would not say that the Holy Spirit multiplied itself into hundreds of invisible persons, would you?

Our creator is our heavenly Father God and Jesus is His begotten son. Jesus never claimed to be equal with God, did he? Also, it is written that “no man has seen God at anytime (John 1:18)”------but has people seen Christ? If Christ was God, then it might have been a crazy God that talked to himself!!!!!!!, asking God to remove the chalice from him, if possible and saying ‘Father, into thy hands, I commit my spirit?’ I know many people get confused with the first verse of John 1, which most bible states “in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God.” Does that sentence makes sense? Early Christians wrote that text to suit their incorrect dogma of Trinity. Some earlier versions of the bible use the sentence …”the word was a God,” ------“the word was a divine one.” Are you getting the picture and thinking verbal distortions just to advance the dogma of trinity? I am glad to refer you to some resource where you will have an idea of the origin of the trinity dogma. Trinity was never in the Bible. Please at your convenience, do look up TRINITY in The New Encyclopedia Britannica, The New catholic Encyclopedia, The Encyclopedia Americana, NouveauDictionnaire Universal, John Mckenzie’s Dictionary of The Bible…etc.

Scripturally, there are many Scriptures that educate us that God and Jesus Christ are not equal and that one is greater than the other. You will find John 14:28, Mathew 24:26, Mathew 16:15-17, Mark 12: 28-30 Mathew 26:39. John 8:17,18, Acts 7:55,( to name a miniscule number of pertinent scriptures) to be very elucidating. Use an open mind, void of pre-formed opinion and you will get a picture more accurate than you currently do on TRINITY. Jehovah, the true God has an orderly arrangement, for he is a God not of disorder and confusion; but of peace (1 Cor 14:33). The head of Jesus Christ is his father, the true God John 5:19,20, John 8:29, 1 Cor 15,27,28. Let’s visit 1 Corinthians chapter 11 verse 3 –“But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.” You cab see clear distinction here.

I pray that may you have an open mind to seek accurate knowledge and may God sends you His Holy Spirit to further enlighten you, we make this request through God’s son, Jesus Christ.

Sincerely
With God’s love.

I mean, pple get lots of different explanations 4rm d same bible. like in 3000AD pple were killing Christ haters, but the same Book's theme is love and salvation for all mankind.
people confuse it 4 a religion, equating it to other kinds of religion.
pple claim that God made them gays, but the Bible says he made them "male and female"...
the Book was written by God through men, but some pple on yahoo answers say its "men of ancient times that worte it. it dont apply here/now", but Bible says God's Spirit inspired holy men of long ago to write it.

Abomination to the Lord????!!!!
you know what the LORD said about it and you still try to NULLIFY the Laws of GOD?
Leviticus 11:9-12 (King James Version)
King James Version (KJV)

9These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.

10And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:

11They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination.

12Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.

and please dont tell me that LORD Jesus abolish the laws
for Jesus said
"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them" (5:17)

DON'T BREAK THE COMMANDMENTS!!!!!

Amen!!

Take this whole evolution thing for example. It is a very established, documented, and near completely proven theory, yet something like 50% of Americans deny it as being true. Personally I find this astounding and a little sad. Is this effect partly to blame for America's decline from the top of the list on education?

We all know that there are some who think the christians are silly for believing in god and all that that entails. Many of us have rolled our eyes after reading some particularly pious statements that strike us as completely off the wall.

After doing some catch-up reading out here today, it struck me that I'm more saddened (among many other things) by references to satan than I am by just about any other christian concept, no matter how wacky it may appear to me.

Although I belive in neither god nor satan, I find that I'm more appalled by those who see the devil everywhere (in hypnosis, in psychic phenomena, in yoga...) than I am by anyone spouting gospel 24/7.

So apparently god has more credibility for me than satan. Where do you stand?

I'm beginning to think that being too accepting can even have it's faults. I used to try to be more open minded in conversationa nd such, but people just seem to step on you for it and you get no respect unless you stand your ground more... it hardly makes sense. What are your thoughts? Is open mindedness wishy-washy or should you just find a perfect balance between standing your ground and respect?

Is the daily rising and setting of the sun and its movements in the sky the ultimate basis of the life, suffering, sacrifice, death, burial resurrection mythologies of ancient and modern religion?

Many religious people on this site make the statement that morals all derive from religion and that without religion and morals, we would all devolve into axe weilding mad men killing each other.

America is a First World continent. Europe is also a First World continent. The main difference between Europe and America is that America is still very religious, while Europe is mostly secular now.

Interestingly, in the country where religion still rules, we have the highest murder rate per capita, highest rape rate per capita and the largest prisoner population for violent criminals. For all our Godliness, we tend to commit more crime and murder, and rape more people than "Heathen" Europeans with no God or religion.

Can anyone religious people explain why this is so?? Im not interested in the response that man chooses evil....why dont the godless Europeans choose evil as well?

Ok If you are an atheist reading this question then look at it hypothetically that there is a garden of eden. If knowledge(apple) in the garden of eden is considered a sin and causes us shame then wouldnt not knowing be the way back to the garden of eden.
In the bible it clearly states that Adam and eve did not know of their nakedness, they did not judge or discern what naked was opposed to being clothed. It wasnt until they knew what it was to be naked from eating the apple(knowledge of good and evil) that they were aware of shame. So if this is what brought sin upon man adversity which means satan. then would that mean the only way back to god is to know ourselves by unknowing who we are.
Is it that sin survives in this world because we know of it, and therefore because we know of it, is why it exists. Good or bad, wrong or right, god, devil. If the devil is the opposite of god, then god being the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end, the balance of all things would that
