I'm not looking to chat or anything, I'm just curious to find out if there ARE more spiritual, open-minded, visceral people 'out there.' Lots of people in this world seem very inert. They spend their time moaning or complaining, being narrow-minded, never looking at the bigger picture. They tut or roll their eyeballs at anything 'different.' They have a very gloomy and negative outlook and seem to be very 'asleep' to me.

Are there intelligent people out there who do think about the world, or divinity, or Mind Power and magic? (by this, I don't mean religious zealots) Are there people out there who embrace 'different' entities? Are there people out there who are very visceral, and really think about their world, and our world? Are there people out there who make a conscious effort to think/act positively?

As I said, I'm curious.....

Were Noah's children saved because of him or because they too found grace? I ask because if the flood was global like Christians believe, then it was Noah's family that got evil started all over again since they were the only survivors of the Flood. Another question is how all the animals of the earth fit in a 450 ft. boat. A cubit is 18-22 inches and the boat was 300 cubits. They went into the ark in pairs and there were 7 pairs of clean animals. Of course this is a miracle because snakes and rats, mongoose and snakes etc. do not like each other. I think about whether they ate or fasted during the time in the ark. Please comment.

Since I have been monitoring this section of YA I constantly see complaining from both those who consider themselves religious and those who are atheists that the "other side" has treated them rudely, unfairly, or slanderously.

First, this concerns me about the Christians (I am a Christian). If we all truly acted as Christ would have us act we could stand up for Him without be rude or insulting.

Second, if atheists would respect that this forum is titled "Religion and Spirituality" not "Denial of Religion and Spirituality" and stop posting on this forum so as to "get a rise" out of Christians the conflict would simply stop.

Since atheist don't believe in God maybe they should carry on their discussion on forums related to science, geology, astronomy, biology, etc. etc.

Don't think that will ever happen because truly I think atheists post here specifically because they enjoy creating the conflict and hope to have Christians respond rudely so as to support their opinion that all Christians are rude and spiteful. So Christians, stand up for Christ and do it with respect for others. And atheists if the only reason you are here is to provoke a Christian to act rudely then quit griping when it happens. It’s what you wanted in the first place.

Here I am again with another horrible question. It’s about evolution(uhhohh Yeah I did it I said the E word so I will probably get reported but at least give me some time to read some answers please)I realize now some of religious people do believe in a way that evolution is possible ( I think anyways I don’t really know for sure) So my question I may have to explain a bit and it may be a little confusing if you have never really studied the topic. I find evolution to be incredibly amazing and very interesting I am by no means a expert but I definetly recommend learning about it in depth especially if you are into nature , Biology ,micro -biology or related. So my question is really for people with atleast some knowledge of evolution and I won’t try to explain it here as to not force anyone who might not want to read it and this is getting long enough already. So finally to my question if you do possibly believe in Evolution in animals and fish and and micro organisms or anything then I guess I want to now why it is you believe it is not possible for us humans to have evolved as well?
I am not trying to start a fight just bit of a friendly debate. Now I know my questions are very controversial and sometime insulting so please if you are offended just let me now and I will remove this ASAP.As always I apologize if anyone is offended, but I do appreciate all answers and really enjoy and learn a lot from this, so keep it up & please don’t get out of hand (I don’t know why I even ask that anymore)

Just because it doesn't come from the Bible doesn't mean it's false. The Bible doesn't address many things that are nevertheless true.
What are your opinions? Can something be true and yet not mentioned in the Bible? Or is everything not mentioned in the Bible false?

I have many Christian friends more so than anything becasue it's the most marketed religion, and I have wiccan friends, scientologists, catholic, you name it. I have been told by a fellow Christain, that christians are not doubters. So what I want to know is if they arent, then where did this term back sliding come from? Yes I was once a back slider, but now I have found god again. I didnt realize he was lost? I am sorry but I dont make excuses for my negative behavior as being bad, or something I must justify by saying I was lost. To me being lost is apart of knowing when you find your way, and needs no explanation, so why do this to yourself. Just say I doubted, and feared, but no Christians do not doubt? OK someone please explain?

Hi I'm in the library and just got out of 2nd period. I get to do research on Monday for the next 45 mins. Sometimes a different day of the week but this week its Monday. I decided to do an oral presentation for current events on the above topic. I usually like something controversial to rattle the chain of that politically correct Social Studies teacher that I have that cant see anything good in Israel but can justify all sorts of Islamic terriorism. Anyway I appreciate the relevant passages in the Koran that justifies murder for my report also. Thanks.

Moral and ethical guidlines that we have today were handed down from millenia past.
And it has nothing at all to do with Religion.

Before the ten commandments were "handed down" to Moses, do you suppose stealing was OK?
Many of the things listed on the ten commandments aren't even considered that bad anymore!

What's worse not going to church or molesting a child (not listed anywhere specifically in the bible)?
What's worse? Coveting your neighbors' goods or having an abortion or two or ten?(again, not listed anywhere specifically)
I could go on and on with this.

Wherefore, because that ye have a Bible ye need not suppose that it contains all my words; neither need ye suppose that I have not caused more to be written.
For I command all men, both in the east and in the west, and in the north, and in the south, and in the islands of the sea, that they shall write the words which I speak unto them; for out of the books which shall be written I will judge the world, every man according to their works, according to that which is written.
For behold, I shall speak unto the Jews and they shall write it; and I shall also speak unto the Nephites and they shall write it; and I shall also speak unto the other tribes of the house of Israel, which I have led away, and they shall write it; and I shall also speak unto all nations of the earth and they shall write it.

This came on my radio this morning. One of the dj's, a woman, was talking about how she might be sending her daughter to a Jewish Synoguage for preschool. The other dj (a non-practicing Jew) thought that this was the funniest thing in the world. The lady, however, got indignent when she realized that her daughter might learn a religion (she's non-religious).

Which got me thinking, how many could let their child go to a religious preschool, not of their beliefs? And if they could, would they pick one over the other?

Now, I'd pick the Hebrew preschool (as the dj kept calling it) over a Christian school not of my domination.

What would you pick? And you can't slither out of it by saying you'd stay home or have a babysitter. If you answer, would you send your kid to a religious daycare? If a religious daycare is all that's open, would you? would you prefer one religion over another? Again, no saying you'd stay home.

Users of this line seem content with accepting that any and all Muslims are terrorists. Yet, in the US, there have been more shootings, bombings, arsons, and assaults caused by those who call themselves Christians, than there ever have by Muslims.
If it's correct to assume that all Muslims are terrorists because of the misguided acts of a few extremists, can we also assume that Christianity is a religion of terrorists?
FYI: I am neither Christian or Muslim, and think that such assumptions are deplorable and am disgusted by the bigoted responses I am seeing on here.

I feel like I need something shallow and silly to break the mental strain! That's why I think the silly people on this forum serve a much needed purpose. Do you report these people who are just being silly? They are breaking the tension to my way of thinking. Or do you enjoy silly posts?

I am a Christian, but I'm not overly religiuos. However, I don't believe in God 100%. It's so hard going through school and listening to all the scientific ways in which humans, and the Earth came about, and then reading the Bible and it saying how God made us. It doesn't make sense. I would think that a person dies and they are just a material thing and they just stay in the Earth. But when I go through hard times, I refer to God for help. So I don't know what to think anymore, and I don't know what I believe. I will always remain an Orthodox Christian though.

I've sometimes wondered this, since saints are only people who have been deemed by certain head honchos in the Church to be worthy of sainthood after they've died.

I'm doing a little soul searching. I was raised n a "holy" church where they shout til the benches turned over (literally). I then became a Baptist as a teen &now n my adult years I'm wondering, what am I? What do I believe? I do believe n God as my creator. I do believe n a heaven &a hell but not necessarily as depicted n the bible. I believe in Jesus Christ but I'm not so sure if I believe he is God's son by way of immaculate conception. I believe Jesus is God's child like I am God's child. I believe he was &is a remarkable person that lived. But there r so many gaps &things that have been left n the bible by "mistake" n my opinion until I am left soul searching so that I may have a "confident belief system" so that I may teach my children. As a child &adult, I have always said that I accept Jesus as my Lord &personal savior bcause thats what people say you need 2say n order 2be saved so u wont be denied n2 "the kingdom" on "judgement day" but I'm now wondering what does that mean?
