I have many Christian friends more so than anything becasue it's the most marketed religion, and I have wiccan friends, scientologists, catholic, you name it. I have been told by a fellow Christain, that christians are not doubters. So what I want to know is if they arent, then where did this term back sliding come from? Yes I was once a back slider, but now I have found god again. I didnt realize he was lost? I am sorry but I dont make excuses for my negative behavior as being bad, or something I must justify by saying I was lost. To me being lost is apart of knowing when you find your way, and needs no explanation, so why do this to yourself. Just say I doubted, and feared, but no Christians do not doubt? OK someone please explain?

The average Christian is a paradox. I wonder if they have faith in the rapture why are they so frightened by what's going on in the world right now? Many contradictory attitudes combined in one faith.

Our pastor just preached on this in yesterday's service. God didn't go anywhere, you did. Back-sliding is a term some people use to describe what has happened when someone who has experienced salvation of their sins through Jesus Christ choses to turn their back on it and go another way. God never leaves us, we leave Him. I'm glad that you have returned to Him. How you got here doesn't matter, just that you have. Press on to make sure that you abide in Him and to stay in the security of His hands. Doubting is okay for a Christian, but to use that doubt to hide behind, to keep from seeing the truth and moving forward, that is wrong.

I do not have a very good grasp of your question.
Maybe this will help.
Christians have doubt just like everyone else. We are to learn to give these worries to Jesus and trust Him to take care of them and us. This is a growing process, and people do fail in trusting Jesus.
Backsliding is usually described as when some one stops trying to live according to the Bible (they may still do some "Christian things") but they are discouraged.

There's a big difference between back-sliding (as many have already said, that would be giving into temptation), and doubting. I've never doubted, but I have back slid a few times.

Unprotected sex can result in unwanted pregnancies, and STD's. Smoking causes cancer and a host of other problems. DWI can kill the idiot drinker as well as ithe nnocent, Crack kills, look both ways before you cross the street, don't keep clothes near a space heater and so on......but people indulge in these things everyday. It doesn't mean that people doubt that the space heater will burn their houses down it just means that human beings are flawed. God knew this so he sent his son Jesus to die on the cross.

Even Christians have doubt as well as submission to temptations. We are Christians but we ar also sinners. If you have doubts it takes the faith you have in God to resolve those doubts with his help. if you just believe and have faith he will help you resolve your doubts. Thomas (one of the disciples) would not believe that Jesus has rose again. Said he would have to touch the spot where the nails went in to believe. Jesus accommodated him and allowed him to see and touch the spots. So see, everyone has different doubts at times, just go to God and ask for help with your disbelief.

If you look for fault in anything, you will find it. I can never live up to God prefect expectation he has. But I can accept Jesus as a perfect sacrifice to God for payment of my sins. And try to have faith in him and be as obedient as possible to Gods law. But I'm not perfect I don't have to be. The holy spirit is in me, his spirit. I am a work in progress. I spent many years sinning. Can I change over night....not a chance. I fall back to my old ways of doing and thinking. I confess or repent this in prayer and ask for help and try to have faith in Godly ways not earthly ways....it's tough. You still probably don't understand, and it's harder for me to explain. But there's always non-Christians looking for a chink in my Armour. But the sacrifice is perfect and finished. Sin is covered. It's harder for a Christian to forgive himself and get over the guilt. But we don't have to worry even when we backslide. No one does if he believes in the Savior. That's what communion is all about. Peace...God Bless

the bible says were being changed from glory to glory, we will always have flaws until we die but as long as you accept the HOLY SPIRIT then you will be controlled and guided to do the right thing. The word says aknowledge me in all your ways and i will direct your steps, He will discipline you for your mistakes and reward too for good, the spirit speaks in ways that are mysterious.

Doubting has nothing to do with giving in to temptations that are denied by your faith.
Doubting, means asking questions about your faith. They are two different things.
