Ok If you are an atheist reading this question then look at it hypothetically that there is a garden of eden. If knowledge(apple) in the garden of eden is considered a sin and causes us shame then wouldnt not knowing be the way back to the garden of eden.
In the bible it clearly states that Adam and eve did not know of their nakedness, they did not judge or discern what naked was opposed to being clothed. It wasnt until they knew what it was to be naked from eating the apple(knowledge of good and evil) that they were aware of shame. So if this is what brought sin upon man adversity which means satan. then would that mean the only way back to god is to know ourselves by unknowing who we are.
Is it that sin survives in this world because we know of it, and therefore because we know of it, is why it exists. Good or bad, wrong or right, god, devil. If the devil is the opposite of god, then god being the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end, the balance of all things would that

i do not believe to anything to be evil, I see when many denys himself this is a sin, but you have to learn what you already know so that you may unlearn it and be as free as a child.

I am not religious, I do not call myself anything except a spiritual creature on the same quest you are with my own trials and tribulations to get there. I posed this question, because I did not want very close minded and circular responses, but it would seem no matter what I would get them.

if you come to terms with the non-existenance of god, then you realize that there is no sin. there is no good or bad, there are only consequences that affect people.

knowledge is not from a devil, but something that liberates man from superstitious religious nonsense.

God is he devil, and the devil is God. Adam and Eve looked down but didn't know that they were naked, so they ate an apple.
This is all way to deep for my simple brain. Also that ending, the balance of all things that would that Is that the end, or did something fail to come up on the computer ?

Why would a just and loving god WANT to keep humans ignorant? He supposedly made them in his image. Why didn't he go all the way, and give them Knowledge as well? Why was he keeping them down like that?

The devil is not the opposite of God. God has no equal and no opposite. It's my opinion that the Garden of Eden story illustrates that God is both good and evil, that he is responsible for beautiful things, but is at the same time responsible for their repression. Ignorance is bliss? I think not! The snake was the voice of reason, if you ask me. It parallels, to me, the current struggle between religious fanaticism and free thought, where people believe what they are told and take things at face value as opposed to those of us who want to think, question and reason.

The concept of sin arose from attempts made by the more intelligent animals to deal with the consequences of having attained self-awareness.

Even as a child I thought it was strange that the knowledge of good and evil was a problem. I think harm people without knowing that you're doing harm, and I think that's a problem whether you label it "sin" or not.

It sounds like a roundabout way to justify blind faith and ignorance despite having the truth within reach. Don't question, just do as God says, and seeking truth is evil.

That's why I'm not religious.

What's your point and question?

Hypothetical situations are just that -- hypothetical. They don't exist.

And God, too, doesn't exist, by the way.

adam and eve were uninformed apes, who did not know their rear end from their front end. the snake did them a favor by pointing this out to them, thus they became ashamed of the stupidity of their existence. you call that evil? oh well, wut evah! hehehe...
