Say suddenly your spouse decides to change religions. Would you tell them you could no longer be with them because they don't believe in the same imaginary person as you? Sorry for the atheistic point of view, but that's really what it seems like. I love you, but my imaginary friend comes first.

Don't you think it is rather convenient that whole "Do not tempt the Lord." is written in the bible. It's like a backup. If ever you seek help from God, and nothing happens, Religious people simply say, "Oh well you tempted him, that is why!!"

It's like covering one's behind. Since God doesn't exist, praying for his help does nothing anyway, but believers think by praying something will happen. And since prays go unanswered, they can simply shrug their shoulders, flip open the bible and snap their fingers “OH! I must have tempted the Lord, that is why he didn’t answer my prayers!”

Come on! Prayers, daring God etc… it’s all the same. If nothing happens despite the waving a huge red flag, calling out to God,etc maybe it’s because you are wasting your time.

What do you think (And religious people, try to answer with something OTHER than, "god exists! he is all around us!" Try to broaden your horizons and don't use the knee jerk response.)

:) aside from a style of music.

Generally speaking, I consider it a being's non-physical energy that encompasses the totality of thought, emotion, morality, and interconnectedness with others. In other words, I believe all animals have one, I just make no assumptions about the degree to which it is determined by biology/chemistry/etc or whether it is limited to the length of one's physical life.

FYI, a christian just posted a Q implying that atheists either don't believe ppl have souls or don't have one of their own - which got me wondering how ya'll define the concept of soul.

We are aware of Christianity, and how in that belief it has formed many sects, such as the methodists, baptists, so on and so on,which is to be atheist(to denie the current conception of the divine.) Jews and Christians although they have faith in god has been called atheists, because they denie the pagan notions of divinty, such as Marduk the creator of humanity. Paganism was known as the first, or true religion. It created the first holistic belief that man and god shared the same nature, and derived from the same divine substance(the primal wasteland) Of course this all changed when Moses liberated his people (Israelites) from the Egyptians in the name of the god Yahweh, in which was a brutal and partial god. Not at all like the god who shared a meal with Abraham as his friend. When Moses came up on the burning bush and asks his name, the rebuttle is "I am who I am". When the bible uses a phrase like they went where they went it means I havent the faintest idea where they went.

There is no book like it. 66 books written over 1500 yrs by 40 different authors on 3 different continents but all books say the same about, our sin condition, God's holiness, God plan of salvation, hell, etc. Amazing consistency.
Do you agree?

People on here (Christians) when answering or asking questions sometimes live out letters when spelling God or Jesus. What does this do? Why do you do this? If you are ashamed of God or Jesus, or if you're trying not to offend someone aren't you not obeying God's word? Who are you trying to protect? Stand up for God and Jesus. Don't cover up. Speak up and out.

Since most of the days of the week and the months of the year are named after various Germanic and Roman Gods, why did the Christians and Jews adopt the calendar and essentially bless it when Pope Gregory XIII decreed its use?

According to the the 10 commandments int he Old Testament, Christians and Jews are not supposed to worship or recognize the existence of any other God, but the One true God. By naming days and months after other Gods, is this not a form of idol worship by granting these Gods positions of honor in our society?

Can anyone offer a rational explanation for why religious leaders do not seem to hold themselves accountable to the same laws they impose on others?

I am a witch. In my community some people seeking knowledge have started asking for my guidance and wisdom but I have tried to explain the answers I have found are good answers for me, not necessarily for any one else. But they just keep coming back asking me stuff like I am some sort of oracle or prophet. I’m not. What would you do?

The Bible clearly states in 1stCor.Ch 11-vs 5+ "For a woman however it is a sign of disrespect to her head , if she prays or prophesies unveiled; she might as well have her hair shaved off. In fact, a woman who will not wear a veil should have her hair shaved off.If a woman is ashamed to have her hair shaved off, she ought to wear a veil.
Also 1st Tim Ch 2 vs 11+ ; During instructions, a woman should be quiet and respectful.I am not giving women permission to teach or tell a man what to do.
Vs 15: Never the less, she will be saved by childbearing, provided she lives a modest lifeand is constant in faith and love and holiness.
That is from the Bible, not The Qu'ran.
