We are aware of Christianity, and how in that belief it has formed many sects, such as the methodists, baptists, so on and so on,which is to be atheist(to denie the current conception of the divine.) Jews and Christians although they have faith in god has been called atheists, because they denie the pagan notions of divinty, such as Marduk the creator of humanity. Paganism was known as the first, or true religion. It created the first holistic belief that man and god shared the same nature, and derived from the same divine substance(the primal wasteland) Of course this all changed when Moses liberated his people (Israelites) from the Egyptians in the name of the god Yahweh, in which was a brutal and partial god. Not at all like the god who shared a meal with Abraham as his friend. When Moses came up on the burning bush and asks his name, the rebuttle is "I am who I am". When the bible uses a phrase like they went where they went it means I havent the faintest idea where they went.

Yahwew made no promises of who he was, except to illustrate to the people that he would participate in the history of his people. This suggests that maybe the god of Abraham and Moses were not one in the same, and since Pagans believe there to be more than one god, then it seemed to them blashphemous upon their beliefs to think as so, and was accused of setting idol gods before them. Now I could go on and dissemble the holy trinity, and how that itself created different beliefs. BUt the point I am making is simply this. There have been many theories about the orgin of religion. Yet it seems that creating gods is the nature of man to explore his own existance. But when one religious idea ceases to work, then it is simply replaced with another. Which although you may not want to believe it as so, but it is the very reason why the term atheist exist, because they pose the question why. And it would seem that any religious following has done the same. So this would mean that we are all jus

Jesus has suggested, and every other religion conformed, and that god is a creation of what validates us as man according to the times, and the reason of mans actions. This would mean every faith every lack of faith, however you want to expresss yourself, it is completely acceptable, and should not be judged. That is when, and only when the persecution will stop, because it would seem that every man is persecuted for believing in something.
I wish you well

Yes I know that Rabbit. I know that Christians had only one god, and to a pagan who had many, for christians to not accept their many gods to them it was a form of atheism. As far as the comment they went where they went. A phrase used in the bible to say I have no idea where they went, I was correlating that with the same comment of Moses God" I am what I am. Which is a vague explanation, in saying I dont know who I am. I just am.

Most Christians don't realize that they reject thousands of other gods summarily, and yet they can't understand why others do the same thing to their pet god.

If we are traveling along those lines I would say that you are correct about Christians and Jews, but i would also submit that paganism hasn't revealed anything divine either...at least to me...I would say all religions lack divinity and luster...paganism is no exception...if we define religion, or religious as "faith in a deity" or something along those lines as Webster would point out...then that "faith" is in my opinion not a sound nor sane one as there is no actual proof as to the existence of such an entity...therefore..religon lacks divinity in a definition of the word because there is no supreme excellence (meaning divinity) in an irrational, unsound, superstitious or insane belief...gl...

Atheist means the opposite (prefix "a") of a theist, which is the belief in one God. It simply means that an atheist is against the idea of the existence of God. To say that a Christian is also atheist defies the definitions and violates the rules with which you're trying to debate. It's nonsensical.

As for an atheist questioning "why," you're again mistaken. You're thinking of an agnostic.

EDIT:
If you're going to refer to things in a different context than what they mean today, then you might as well start referring to everything else that way too. From now on, Christianity is a cult!!

first it's spelled morals. No one mentioned Christians have greater morals than atheists. If an atheist used to be raised to be well mannered, thoughtful, sort, and many others. through their mom and dad, that is how they are going to be. If Christians are raised to be judgmental, watching down on nonbelievers, dishonest the IRS, and many others. then that is their morals. Just on the grounds that any person does not think there's no God, does not make that individual a heathen. We all will have to love every body it doesn't matter what their perception, colour, gender, and many others.

Whew!

It is a little hard to wade through, but I will answer along the lines of the title question. Christians were first referred to as atheists because they denied the Greco-Roman pantheon of deities. They had one god, not a plethora of gods.

As for the "they went where they went" and "I haven't the faintest idea where they went", I haven't the faintest idea of where you are going in your discussion. Sorry.

what's "a conception of the divine?" whose conception?
there are sufficient people who agree with the jewish conception of the divine and enough members of each christian denomination to make what you're going on about "an antheist" total rubbish

in fact, so much of the world's religious population hold these views that whoever's conception you're talking about is likely to be in the minority.

you're obviously seriously misguided and from the contents of your spiel, rather confused to boot

(e.g. you don't have a clue what an atheist is and paganism was not the first religion) you need a bit more research on every aspect of your statement, you pose it wrong, the content is confused, and there is no question!

People have their gods. They are false gods. There is but one True God. He is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. He is Creator- maker of Heaven and Earth.... What Do I Believe?
I believe in God the Father almighty- maker of Heaven and Earth, and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord- who was concieved by the Holy Spirit-born of the virgin Mary- suffered under Pontious Pilot- Crucified- dead- and buried. On the third day he arose from the dead he ascended into heaven and sitteth at ther right hand of God. From thence he sahll come to judge the quick ad the dead. Atheism is the disbelief in the existence of deities. It is commonly defined as the explicit (i.e., conscious and deliberate), positive rejection and denial of theism; however, others — including several dictionaries, encyclopedia, and atheistic philosophers — explicitly list as one definition of atheism the simple absence of belief in deities.
Atheism does not mean to deny the CURRENT CONCEPTION of the divine. Atheists reject all gods.

"no one was born knowing God" is what i thought you would say. Are you saying that Moses didn't worship the same God of Adam, Noah, Abraham, and Jacob?
