People on here (Christians) when answering or asking questions sometimes live out letters when spelling God or Jesus. What does this do? Why do you do this? If you are ashamed of God or Jesus, or if you're trying not to offend someone aren't you not obeying God's word? Who are you trying to protect? Stand up for God and Jesus. Don't cover up. Speak up and out.

How is it being sweet to God or Jesus by not spelling the name out in it's entirety? Isn't it spelled out in the Bible? We say the whole name, don't we? I mean we don't say "Je**s s*v*s and HE l**ve* *o* t**."

I know some people believe that it's wrong to call Him God or Jesus, because those are "English" names, and not His true name. Also, YHWH (which isn't leaving anything out, that's actually what it's translated to) is God's most holy name. Perhaps they, like the ancient Hebrews, believe the name is too holy to use in everyday speaking.

I, on the other hand, have nothing but honor and love for God's name, and I use it as such and am not afraid to speak it.

Think that that is just the J-ws doing that. Some of the dafter ones actually willfully believe that the world is flat. For the Bible tells them so. It's a fact.

I think that Jews do not like to spell out God's name, because they feel it would disrespect Him, and perhaps some Christians feel the same way.

It dates from Jewish tradition, whereby the name of god was not to be uttered. In ancient days, it was believed the power of a god could be summoned by speaking his name. To do so for trivial reasons was an abuse of his power.

This is the reason for "thou shalt not take the lord's name in vain". In those days, to utter the name when you were not invoking him was to use it in vain.

A Jewish friend told me once that some get offended if you write out the name God. He would always write G-d.

That's typically a Jewish tradition. They consider it to be using God's name in vain when they spell it out. It's their way of showing a sign of respect. They don't do that with Allah though, because Allah is not God.

I don't do that, but I think they do it out of respect for God - kind of a sweet thing really.
