That is why you see a more positive trend for Hindu and Buddhist thoughts in educated circles while Islam is popular in prisons across America.

I'm all for eastern religions since they are more a way of life than "praise the lord" or "kill the infidel". You never hear of Buddhists going on a jihad or such things.

Hold on! Intelligence is one thing, manifested intelligence is completely something else. We all have intelligence. We are all manifestations of supreme intelligence. Ignorance of that intelligence is what puts people on the lower path.

Islam is important for prisons because the path of Islam that is put forth is prison has a strong emphasis on self-discipline. Prisoners -- through Islam -- learn to remember their higher calling through prayer (5 times?) a day. They learn to put their egos in check and yield to God's will. They purify themselves by changing their eating habits. They are able to use divine will to conquer their addicitions.

Perhaps the educated circles don't need such a strong form of self-discipline. I don't know.

I would add, however, that Buddhism is having an influence in American prisons. And, the Vedic tradition (most recognized through Hindusim) -- in the form of meditation and yoga -- is having an influence in India and the United States.

Why not? There is room for everybody in both the Buddhist and Hindu religion.
Like you said, only the religions which practice exclusivity and bigotry are fighting with each other.
As for intelligence, hmm that might be stretching it too far. I am sure there is also intelligent life in the other religions. Only they choose to use their intelligence to further the power cause of whatever religion they have chosen to pursue.

MENSA is meant for the intelligent, Hinduism is meant for people who believe in the principles of the Hindu religion.

Obviously, you yourself don't really reflect upon the message of hinduism or buddhism. One shouldn't prop oneself up while kicking others. That shows an unbelievable lack of compassion. Respect all religions, including Islam, and examine in yourself why you feel it necessary to equate a religion with criminals. You, I am afraid, are the one lacking.

Om.

Good point. Maybe that's why Hinduism is growing MUCH faster than Islam in the USA.

Very cruel statement, you imply the question I posted earlier... No one is better than another. No one more intelligent, no one more special. Were all the same.
