Don't you think it is rather convenient that whole "Do not tempt the Lord." is written in the bible. It's like a backup. If ever you seek help from God, and nothing happens, Religious people simply say, "Oh well you tempted him, that is why!!"
It's like covering one's behind. Since God doesn't exist, praying for his help does nothing anyway, but believers think by praying something will happen. And since prays go unanswered, they can simply shrug their shoulders, flip open the bible and snap their fingers “OH! I must have tempted the Lord, that is why he didn’t answer my prayers!”
Come on! Prayers, daring God etc… it’s all the same. If nothing happens despite the waving a huge red flag, calling out to God,etc maybe it’s because you are wasting your time.
What do you think (And religious people, try to answer with something OTHER than, "god exists! he is all around us!" Try to broaden your horizons and don't use the knee jerk response.)

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, the Bible is my number one example of hypocracy and contradiction at their holiest. Amen.

I can't say that if a prayer went unanswered I've flipped open the Bible and said "Oh I must have tempted Him", and I've never thought that someone elses unanswered prayer was because they tempted Him. If a prayer does go unanswered I know it just wasn't in His will. He knows what is best for us. But more often than not, my prayers are answered. Mind you I do not pray for monetary things. I know it is not a waste of time, for I know God is real and he hears my prayers. Also, you have to have faith God will answer your prayers. As humans it's hard to have that kind of faith, proven by people that ask questions like this one.

I don't think you understand what is meant in the bible by tempting the lord. Certainly, those who used it in the way you described do not.
Satan tempted the lord when he tempted Christ. The temptation was an attempt to get Jesus to violate God's law in order to receive something in return. Praying for God to make you win the lottery is not tempting the lord. Praying to God that you will do evil things if he doesn't make you win the lottery would be.
You can verify what I am writing by reading Luke chapter 4.

Sin seperates us from God, God answers ALL prayer. Just not how we might think we want Him to. Matthew 12:39 ,16:4 Says that a wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign(of His power). If we pray in His will the thing we ask WILL happen. I will pray for you.

It doesn't mean that.To tempt the Lord taken in the context of scripture, (which incidentally any other way is just using scripture to support or refute our own cuckoo ideas), means that we cannot jump off a building and expect God to save us. We chose to do it and God does not say that He will protect us in those ways.
If we pray asking God for earnestly for something then we have to acknowledge that God will not answer prayers that are contrary to His nature. If He does answer it may not be in the way we would like and He will not answer soulish prayers which are prayers that are fleshly in nature.(eg. Lord please make this person shut up). A true Christian will pray prayers like"Lord please help me to be obedient to your word" or "Please help me in this situation to behave as you would have me behave".
I hope you get the picture. God is God not a puppet He will not manipulated and I am sorry that you do not think He exists. One day you will know for sure that He does exist. I pray that it will not be on the day that you are judged because it will be too late for you then.

I hardly know where to begin addressing this question. It saddens me that someone could feel this way. I will say this. Help doesn't always come as you expect it. Sometimes God says "No" because its in your best interest in the long run. Also, with your attitude about this, I don't think you are capable of a sincere prayer. I would be glad to continue a conversation about this if you want to email me.

"Do not tempt the Lord" is nowhere in The Bible. You need to develop faith on HIM if you want the miracles to happen in your life. Calling The only God through prayers with faith will definitely solve lot of your problems.

o.k., I'll answer with Something Different.
Phooey on all of this.
You just don't Understand the Principles of Faith.
Don't Feel Bad, Most Children of GOD don't Either.
Thats why they use Those Back-Up Systems----when they Pray, Nothing Happens! (Ouch!) (no Offense to my Family of Faith Walkers) so they Try to Save Face and Make up Excuses.
(Ouch Again, Sorry my Bro.'s and Sis.'s in Christ Jesus) I am Trying not to Lie.
The Truth will set you Free.

There is a differance between praying and tempting the Lord.
An example of a prayer is "God give me strength"
And example of tempting the Lord is: "God I am going to drink this poisen, because I have faith that you will save me"

Here is a knee jerk response, you lack any substance to your statement. I wish you success in your endeavors and hope that you will see your foolish way. I think that the day will come that you will say UH_OH!!
