No only a few will be saved if you consider the world's population.
Jesus said this regarding how many would receive life--"Enter ye in by the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many are they that enter in thereby." Matt 7:13
"And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved." Matthew 10:22
Many will not survive God's final war against the wicked. This prophecy in Revelation will soon be fulfilled: "And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in mid heaven, Come and be gathered together unto the great supper of God; that ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses and of them that sit thereon, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, and small and great." Rev 19:17-18
Notice it says "great supper."

Well, there are a lot of misguided folks who do all sorts of irrational things while shouting that God will protect them. This question is right up there with why babies die of SIDS, or any of the other "why do bad things happen" questions.
Welcome to planet earth. Ever since Adam and Eve chose poorly, sin has warped man's environment and messed with his judgment. It's just part of life.
Unfortunately this guy did something that even Jesus wouldn't do. Jesus refused to throw himself off the top of the temple, thus tempting God.
Luke 4:9-12 (Amplified Bible)
9Then he took Him to Jerusalem and set Him on [a]a gable of the temple, and said to Him, If You are the Son of God, cast Yourself down from here;
10For it is written, He will give His angels charge over you to guard and watch over you closely and carefully;
11And on their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.
12And Jesus replied to him, [The Scripture] says, You shall not tempt (try, test exceedingly) the Lord your God.
So, if anything God is a just God and will not play favorites. Since this man did this deliberately, if he had remained untouched, he would have been in a greater sin of thinking that he was a favorites of, or equivalent to God.
No, God behaved as he always has. He is not a trick pony to be manipulated to our delusional whims.
1 Peter 5:5
" . . . For God sets Himself against the proud (the insolent, the overbearing, the disdainful, the presumptuous, the boastful)--[and He opposes, frustrates, and defeats them], but gives grace (favor, blessing) to the humble."

God doesn't ignor humanity. God doesn't punish people for not believing in Him. He punishes them for not obeying Him. God is in complete control of what goes on in the world. Everything happens for a reason. You may be thinking if everything happens for a reason and God is in controll of everything why does He allow bad things to happen to good people? This is something we can only spectate on. I personally believe that when bad things happen to good people, God is either trying to prepare them to help some else who is disobeying Him get through the same situation or He is testing the person for their sole benifite and if they will just praise God through it He will lead them to a discovery about Himself or teach them a better way to be a witness to His greatness. Yes God would save everyone if they will let Him. The problem is that usually humans get in the way of His plan. We try to "fix" things that aren't broke. God came down to this earth and covered Himself in flesh as a baby named Jesus. Jesus came to this earth for 2 reasons. 1: to fulfill the Scriptures that prophecied a redeemer. 2 : to die for human sins so that we might be saved. After having been dead for 3 days God raised Him and if you believe in your heart that Jesus died for you and that God raised Him on the 3rd day and confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, you WILL be saved. This is the only way to God. There is no other name on earth by which we can be saved.

I happen to believe in Reincarnation. If we don't get it right, we get a few more shots. I can't believe any benevolent God allows permanent punishment. Eternity is a long time, and we are lucky to get 80 years on this speck of dirt, seems like a tiny fraction to decide the rest. Occams' Razor.

OK... let me make it as simple as it can be for you... All who come to God in The Way He proscribes will receive His free gift of Salvation... in other words, be saved... note, in The Way He proscribes...not your way, not my way, not any"religions" way... not in the way of some mentaly unstable man.... But in God's proscribed Way....
God makes the rules... you do not... I do not... play by God's rules or, ultimatly, suffer the concequences....
just a word of warning... I would not recomend you go jumping into any lion dens unless you want to find out the "concequences" right now...
The Way is for you as well... if you are willing to submit to God's rules... other wise, enjoy what you can make of this life...it is the only enjoyment you will ever know.

Who are we to test GOD???.. Did we create the earth? Did we create the Stars and Moon (you get where I'm going)? God is not a genie you pull out of the bottle to do your bidding... God does save everyone who believes in JESUS CHRIST as the saviour... He did not say I will pull you out of the Lions den because you are stupid!!!!!! He said I will save you from hell if you will believe in me, trust me, LOVE ME....

You live a life and be happy with it, there is nothing beyond that, God does not save anyone because if he did we all live forever, people need that hope of eternity and they claim God, and that is because they are afraid of death, to me I don't believe there is anything supernatural in this universe...

Poor man had no faith, God did not tell Him to lower himself into the lions den, if God had told him, God would have saved him.

Please see Matthew chapter four especially look at verses five through seven. It talks about when Satan tempted Jesus in the dessert Satan tells Jesus to throw Himself off of a building because the Bible says "He shall give His angels charge over you ---and In their hands they shall bear you up..." Jesus says, "It is written You shall not tempt the Lord your God." He quoted this from Deuteronomy 6:16
To be "Saved" for eternity is different than having ones life saved also. Sometimes God allows death to come to someone in order to save them or others. We cannot presume to know God's mind. Presumption gets people into trouble.

No. Salvation is by faith alone...in Christ alone. Jesus himself said wide is the gate to destruction and many find it, but small is the gate to eternal life and few find it. The Bible actually talks more about hell that heaven!
God ignores no man. Anyone who seeks Him will find Him if they seek Him with all their heart (Duet 4:29). EVERYONE who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved (Romans 10:13).
Jesus is standing at the door of the heart of every man. "If ANYONE opens that door, He will come in"! (Rev 3:20)
