When I grew up, there was no such word as Hater. There was hatred or hateful, not hater.

Don't you think this is overused? You actually have to have an interest in someone or something to be a Hater!

What I am talking about is those who deleberately do wrong and use this as an excuse. Some Christians play online chess at work which is against policy, but they use this as an excuse.

I think if people are going to preach their religion and tell me I am going to hell better live a better life than I do. Agree or disagree? If you disagree then what incintive do I or any non Christian have to beleive you when you do not even try to do right? To me it is like you are saying become a Christian and do what you want to because Christi forgives.

I grew up as a Christian and I still am one and I'm here to tell ya, it's not an easy game. For starters the morality bar is set way above the average for the nation making it nearly impossible to both practice Christianity and be included in the group as a whole.

But that's without any external force being applied against it. I think the U.S. is moving fast to start persecuting Christians. It seriously won't be long. Our self hatred as a country seems to be brimming over into our Christian heritage to the point that identifying yourself as a Christian (or worse practicing one) destroys your credibility to the academic community and places the world's problems squarely on your shoulders.

Take Bush for example. The mention of his name will stir hatred in the majority of the poppulation. But every hate that people have for Bush transfers over to all Christians by that simple connection.

How long will it be before Christians are treated as second class citizens?

The Qur'an does not stipulate veiling or seclusion; on the contrary, it tends to emphasize the participation of religious responsibility of both men and women in society. So is wearing the veil real part of the Muslim religion or is it an interpretation of what the Qur'an says. (Interestingly the tradition of veiling and seclusion of women in early Islam were assimilated from the conquered Persian and Byzantine societies and then later on they were viewed as appropriate expressions of Quranic norms and values)

And let's be FOR REAL! There are masculine women and feminine men!
But the masculine, being more direct and focused, giving one an
exaggerated sense of self.
And the feminine, being more expansive, actually giving one the
feeling they are smaller than they are?

If the Flying Spaghetti Monster exists and you believe in him, then you go to heaven and enjoy the beer volcano and stripper factory.

If the Flying Spaghetti Monster doesn't exist and you believe in him, then you've lost nothing.

So, isn't it better to believe?

I got alot of replies, but what I thought was most interesting is how
I was applying a concept to all men who believe in a higher power, and how just by having faith in something rather than what is an orthodox way of connecting with god you are persecuted by your fellow man. Does it matter, I believe in god, and through god I know I cannot judge another's man heart or their faith. But yet when I sited the scriptures matthews 510 christians so hatefully to me, and told me I was wrong, and that the scripture was about their persecution, not mans. How much of a contradiction this is to me, and how full of ego to think that the words of god was meant only for one belief. I do not call christians bible thumpers, they got that name because of their supreme judgement on others, not because they are supposed persecuted, but because they persecute themselves with their actions that they try to force uupon others. Is it too difficult to believe that it's about everyone's persecution?

How can I have the courage to be myself? To finally do what I want?

My father taught me to be someone I am not, and I don't think will ever accept me or support me being the person I know I am at heart.

I think I have a lot of fear about really going for it and being myself. The things I want to do are not typical in your society. I fear rejection, failure, laughter, criticism...

How can I get past this? Is there anyone out there who is really living from their 'soul'? How do you stay strong in the face of criticism and unsupportive family ?

Not only does "god" not want people to make statues of graven images, but some people go as far to hook up devices to make them look like their crying (weeping mary statues). Then say no one is allowed to investigate the statue scientifically because "god" wouldn't want them to. "God" didnt want the statue made in the first place. How can people possibly fall for these scams, have they no common sense? If they let it be examined and it turned out to be true it would make a believer out of many, of course it wouldnt be true though, thats why we cant examine them. Not because "god" doesnt want us to , as i said, its a sin to make the statue in the first place.
