First of all, failure to marry in an LDS temple will "damn" a person so that his eternal progression will be stopped short of godhood. The best that he can hope for then is to be an angel.
One must be married in the LDS temple and then obey all of the Mormon regulations to get to the highest degree of heaven. "Celestial" marriage, as this eternal marriage is called, is essential for Mormon women. Without being celestially married to a holder of the priesthood, a woman cannot be "saved". The woman's salvation would depend upon her husband's priesthood authority. A Mormon female cannot be saved without being "sealed" to some male who is a Priest.
Concerning celestial marriage in the temple, Mormon Apostle John Widtsoe wrote, "Several approaches to eternal marriage may be made: Two living persons may be sealed to each other for time and eternity. A living man may be sealed for eternity to a dead woman; or a living woman to a dead man. Two dead persons may be sealed to each other. It is also possible, though the church does not now permit it, to seal two living people for eternity only, with no association on earth... Further, under divine command to the Prophet Joseph Smith, it was possible for one man to be sealed to more than one woman for time and for eternity. Thus, came plural marriage among the Latter-day Saints". Many LDS men are sealed to more than one wife for all eternity. Mormon women are sometimes celestially married to men they had no intention of ever living with, so that they could have a man who would be able to get them into heaven
In the temple marriage ceremony, women are given secret names known only to their husbands, for identification purposes, so their husbands can pull them through to "the other side" after death. As part of the ceremony, women also receive their endowments. These are secret occult ordinances and promises which make a person eligible to enter the highest level of Mormon heaven. The wife must tell her husband her new name, and no one else, as he is supposed to call her up in the resurrection. If he does not call her up she would still resurrect, but not as his wife.
Every Mormon man will sometime be a "god;" and Mormon women are to be the ornaments of his kingdom, and dependent upon him for resurrection and salvation; and their salvation is dependent upon the recollection of the secret passwords. No woman will get into the celestial kingdom, except her husband receives her, if she is worthy to have a husband; and if not, somebody will receive her as a servant. Having no husband to raise you at the last day, you could not be 'resurrected' as a saint, and would only be raised like any Gentile, as a servant for the Saints, i.e., for the Mormons.
If a man feels his wife was not behaving properly, he could always find a more compliant one. Because all women must be married to go to heaven, the pressure to conform to the expectations of men is incredible. If a man was not content with his wife, Brigham Young "recommended...that he take a plural wife or two -- since this was a sure cure for a shrewish and recalcitrant female".

The Mormon church teaches to love your wife/husband. Maybe for some people it's hard, but you just have to learn to do it. If you don't learn how to love your spouse, you won't be happy in heaven or maybe won't even be in heaven.
Your question does not have a concrete answer. Since none of us has been to heaven, all of the answers everyone will give to this question will be guesses and opinions.
And no, I don't think God would leave a righteous man or woman alone in heaven in certain circumstances.

Yeah, temple divores are possible but not recommended.
We try to work things out between the couple before that happens.

Remember that the Mormons teach that a husband calls his wife forth on the resurrection day - not the other way around. If he doesn't make it, then her salvation is lost.

Well, to be totally honest, we don't know. We have to rely on the Lord to sort things out like that.
It also depends on if they have both kept their covenants...if one or both of them brake their covenants they have made in the temple it won't matter if they love each other or not, they most likely won't be in the Celestial Kingdom.

If he really doesn't want to meet her on the other side, he can ask for a temple divorce.

Being sealed gives you certain blessings. Our blessings are conditional. If you abuse your wife or stop loving her, she can chose another man. She will not be alone because of your faithlessness.

When he goes to Heaven God will judge. She will be given to another if she has not committed adultery.
