I was wondering about this because in my very limited knowledge concerning Islam, I thought that making images and effigies of people was forbidden. Since I thought this, I was perplexed when I saw on television that some Muslims (I think it was in Pakistan, but it may have been India or Kashmir) were protesting against the Pope by making an effigy of him and burning it. I was wondering what you thought about this. Do you think that some Islamic clerics will criticise them for doing this?
Sorry, this is a restatement of a question that I asked and deleted by mistake.

I understand two people have been arrested but I wonder what the emotional responce from islam will be. Is a rude comment more offensive than killing a nun?

muslims claim that a deep study of the koran will make one realise that islam is a good faith, and thats what they always keep saying. while working in saudi i got hooked on islam and studied it in a islamic collage in riyad. the more i studied and read the book the more i wondered as to how any thinking person let alone a muslim can honestly say the prophet muhommed was a good man.
if i dont like a man who molested a young girls, murdered, practiced polygamy and lied, then why should i say that muhommed was a good man?
i am by no means a religious person who believes that all religions are myths, but what bothers me is how 1 billion muslims could have been fooled by islam.
or are they just brain washed?
(can i have some answers based on knowledge and commonsense. please do not hit back at me with Religious or supernatural stuff about god's , because i am not intrested in that stuff)

is sin relative only to righteousness,if we transcend both sin and righteousness they both lose there meaning should religion take us to these kinds of spiritual heights as opposed to keeping humanity in fear from sin and holding us in ignorance

Such as if you do not believe in the FSM would it really be considered a choice as to rub tomato sauce on his noodly appendage or not. To you it does not exist. There is no choice there. It is a negative.

So when people tell me I choose to go to hell, I can not help but think no I did not. I do not believe in God. I do not believe in Heaven. I do not believe in Hell. There was no choice. I can not force myself to experience the same faith you do. What I am saying is not a lie. If you say it is a lie then you are being the liar. No one can force themselves into having faith in something, therefore it is not a choice of me wanting to go to heaven or hell

You can say it is a choice for me to believe in god all you want but I **know** it is not. I can not believe in the same things you do. You can not force yourself into being something you are not. PERIOD.

So the choice never really was mine. Sorry..

i am studying Religious Studies at College and i have been set a homework....

How would a religious beleiver explain changes in the bible?

( such as in the old testament, there were rules on only being allowed to eat kosha food and male children had to be circumcised but in the new testement they no longer have to do that)

Thanks to anyone who answers this... i couldnt ask anybody else because all my family and friends are atheists, so i was never christened, and therefore couldnt go to a religious leader and/or religious beleiver,

thank you!!!

notice how many focus on "murderers and liars" while ignoring those who do not believe, as if Gandhi and Hitler were one and the same.

...I even attempt to answer a lot of useless questions. But don't
you think we could do without CHRONICs, who ask 20 questions
in one sitting? Hogging all the question space? And are BOORISH,
repeating the same CHIT over and over? And whose only goal in life is to make others as miserable as they are, in their PATHETIC
little lives?
Put that on your PIPE and SMOKE it! Nothing personal.

...of all their bad memories and experiences? So they can achieve perfect happiness.

As a thinking, logical being, would anyone actually want this to happen? I'm sure there are many things that we would like to forget about life, but wouldn't erasing 'bad' experiences cause us to lose our 'real' selves---we wouldn't be us now, would we?

for saving the damned in hell. Let us say that you are in Heaven and your God tells you that you can try to save 1,000 people that are in Hell, but you only have 1 in a 1000 chance of ever returning to heaven. If it were strangers would you do it? How about if it were people you know and love?

Sorry for the goofy question I am bored.

Say you and your significant other died. Your partner is the love of your life, your true soulmate. Upon death, you go to heaven (because you were such a good person), but your partner goes to hell. Would you forsake heaven in order to spend eternity in damnation with your most beloved?

I think I would. Would heaven really be heaven without your mate?
