Hey, maybe this is a step. Now, I just bet that the groups responsible for fire bombing 5 Palestinian churches in retaliation for his comments, yeah, they will come forward and apologize now too. The Pope had nothing to apologize for. The only apology he owed was for obviously talking over everyones head to the point that the context of his speech was bastardized. Is it his fault that the listener may be too stupid to understand the context of his speech? What a shame.

From the news report I read this morning, the Pope did not apologize. He merely stated he felt remorse for the reaction to his statements.

My understanding is that he did not apologize for what he said, only how his words were interpreted by a mob of overzealous narrow minded cult of haters. It does not suprise me that the Pope is trying to ease the pain caused by his words...that is a sign of love and a condition of Christ's teachings. love thy brother. Turn the other cheek, Etc. If you feel ashamed perhaps your faith isn't as strong as you profess it to be.

Now I can say that he is a wise man that doesn't want to make more problems.
I am proud of him as an honest brave wise man although I am a Muslim and I accept his apologize.
