do you believe in atoms even though you can't see them? Yeah, scientists say you exist, but why do YOU believe them?

Not trying to offend anyone...just trying to get a better perspective. Sorry if I am.

Liz Curtis Higgs wrote several books on descriptions of some of the not so nice ladies from the Bible like Delilah. I was wondering if anyone read it and liked it.

Curious. Do we restrain ourselves when it comes to fascism, terrorism, racism, sexism...?

If someone believes in the inherent superiority of his/her religion, and that everyone else is doomed, why should this belief not be challenged? Isn't self-righteousness a cause for social problems?

If you don't want your beliefs challenged, why expose those beliefs to a group of strangers?

I've been researching religions a lot lately, and I just came across Baha'i. I read that it started in 1844 and that the followers are called Babis. I was also reading, and what I found most interesting, is that they believe all religions come from the same source; they're all the work of one God. They don't believe in spirits and angels, and feel that Heaven and Hell are symbolic conditions of the soul, not real places.

I find this particular religion very interesting. I would like to hear what other people know about it, and possibly if anyone follows this.

For those replying...it's great that you have strong beliefs in your religion, but don't reply if you can't enlighten me with more information about Baha'i. I already know enough about Christianity, I'm interested in Baha'i.

If God calls you to be single, will he not give you a desire to have a mate? Any ideas on how to find your soul mate- assuming of course he isn't calling you to be single

When you put yourself or your religion on a pedestal...it makes you an easy target.

The religion bashing, that is. Some silly boy asked us to convince him that being gay is ok. One lovely character responded with "sorry, but the bible says it's bad." Full stop, end of story.

So my question is - just because it's in the bible, it's ok, even if it's horrific, mean, rude, hostile, nonsensical, etc.? Really and truly, that makes it all ok?

Could these possibly be people seeking a higher power?Or does their lack of a belief push them to try and disprove others' beliefs?Or are these people bored and just looking to try and get people riled up?Maybe attention seekers?Or is there an actual religion or spiritual system dealing with the lack of one?

Then what is this I've felt? How come whenever I pray, they always get answered no matter how long ago I prayed that prayer? How come my whole life I've never felt alone ever? How is it that when I was born premature and dead [weighing only 1 lbs 4 1/2 ounces] every doctor wanted to give up on me except one? How is it that that doctor was there on that day at that time to save my life when all the others were just gonna let me die? How come maricals happen everyday people just don't realize it. You can't tell me that every single one of the billions of people on earth that belive in God are brainwashed. They're not. Just because peole quote the bible and memorize the bible doesn't mean they're brainwashed. If God isn't real then life has no true meaning except to live and then just....die. Personally, I think without religion, this world would be complete chaos.

Why is it that when someone generalizes about Christians (such as saying all Christians brainwash people or we hate Muslims, for example) that is ok, but if someone calls someone of another race a name that isn't ok? Aren't they both wrong? Not all Christians are knocking on doors trying to convert people or looking at other people in judgement or telling you that you will burn in hell for having an abortion. This Christian girl sure isn't. So why be bigots and say that all Christians act like that? I'm sure you would love it if I said all black people are in prison. It's racists and I'm sick of people on this thing saying crap like that. It isn't true. So what makes it ok?

OK..I hate to offemd ANYONE but I know this will. But could someone please convince me. Justify two grown men together and how that is natural. Explain to me how two men/two women's bodies are made in ANY way to have sex. Nevermind biblacle proof, just tell me how it is so natural. Tell me how if everyone were gay how the world procreate and I'm not talking about thru Invitro. I'm talking with out haveing the sperm from man and the egg from woman. Tell me why God created Adam and Eve, man and woman, to populate the Earth. I really want someone to try to rationalize this. You can't. It's just plain filthy. Without getting too explicit, justify oral penetration...an orifice made to excrete bodily waste. Please...I will keep an open mind...I swear. Just make be think it is ok and that I am all wrong. Not personal attacks and homophobice comments..Really, convert me.

"There is also the important question of whether or not there could ever be anything more true than the Catholic Church in the future?"
I am a Christian I believe in Jesus and praying to God, but how could in the future there could be "anything more true?" Since when does truth change? God tells us in the Bible "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." - Hebrews 13:8 So how can his truth change?

Given that the majority of atheists don't believe in spirit:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/?qid=20060817134054AAIbui0&r=w

Isn't it then true that most of you have nothing positve to offer to a discussion of spirituality. To play on the pun of spirits as alcohol, it's like trying to discuss beer-making in a room full of rabid teetotalers who not only don't drink beer, they don't even believe it exists.

One of my girlfriends father was a Blackfoot. Met her mother, who worked on the reservation, and married her. A very interesting woman!

"What is life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset..."
