Methodism or the Methodist movement is a group of historically related denominations of Protestant Christianity. It originated in 18th century Britain, and thanks to vigorous missionary activity spread throughout the British Empire, the United States, and beyond. Originally it appealed especially to workers, poor farmers, and slaves. Theologically it is Arminian, emphasizing that all people can be saved, and low church in liturgy. By 2006 it claimed some 75 million members worldwide.

A Baptist is a member of a Baptist church. Baptist churches are often regarded as an Evangelical Protestant denomination originating from the English Puritan movement with Anabaptist influences. However there are disagreements with these labels and origins views.

Theologically many Baptists emphasize a believer's baptism by full immersion, which is performed on non-infants after a profession of faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior. A congregational governance system gives autonomy to individual local Baptist churches. However, churches will often associate in organizations such as the Southern Baptist Convention which is the largest Baptist association in the world.

It's not that much, Baptists baptize by immersion, Methodists by sprinkling. The Methodists are a bit more liberal and the Baptists follow the bible strictly. Baptists are less formal and Methodists are quieter. No problem with marriage. My grandpa was Methodist, my grandma baptist. I went to both when I was little, just like the Baptist more.

It is not uncommon for Methodist and Baptists to dislike one anothers beliefs. Methodist tend to be loving and kind and not dogmatic about their beliefs. Baptists tend to be kind of do this or that or you're going to hell. Their is very little allowance for another viewpoint. At least this has been my experience in these two camps.
Baptists and Methodists can marry but I think if it were me, I would want to discuss some of the issues in premarital counseling. For example would the other person be willing to attend your Church? Or would you both attend separately?

A Methodist is a bit more liberal than a babtist.
It would depend upon strong and how much you care about your faith, or perhaps not, Both faith's have the same "core" beliefs, but vary in other somewhat smaller doctrines.
But I see no reason why you shouldnt marry.
My wife is a babtist, I am a Pentecostal, very different theology's in two areas, Babtism of the Holy Spirit and Eternal Security, Both I have noticed allow the differences to be a point of contetion betweenn them, not always but sometimes, and yet My wife and I have been together for 23 years.

The basic foundation of both of their faiths is that Jesus Christ is Lord and that we are accepted by God through the cross. They might have differing theoligical ideas but there should be no reason for one to not marry the other, especially since it's not the church go to that brings eternal significance but Christ himself. Jesus say that we ourselves are the church, the people comprise the church not a building with a steeple, so if they both love the Lord there should be nothing to hold them back from enjoying a great marriage.

They inter-marry all the time. They are both Christian faiths...so I don't see why it should matter. Although I'd ask your personal churches what they recomend if being married by your/or his church is what matters to you.

Personally, I feel it's a commitment between you, your loved one and God/Yaweh/Allah....and not some church as a go-between.

Quasim has a great answer on your question. To tricky on my own journey, i'm a Southern Baptist. My spouse's family are contributors of a Methodist Church. My church emphasizes Sunday college, that's a variety formerly provider that teaches diverse books of the Bible. We emphasize the choir to compliment God. The choir sings out alongside with the congregation and solo with new and previous songs that fills you with the Holy Spirit of God. this is emotional and non secular to take heed to a tiny fraction of ways this is going to be in Heaven as quickly as we compliment God. Preaching comes final interior the provider the place the pastor would not inform you what you desire to take heed to, yet what we'd desire to take heed to. Believers ought to tell nonbelievers the actuality because of the fact there's a Hell that the unsaved will flow to. that may no longer an straightforward element to do, that's why Jesus stored us from our sins. From my journey with the Methodists, additionally they have provider on Sunday. they provide the impression of being to concentration much less on the emotional, non secular area of Church, yet greater on examining the Bible and doing chants like Catholics. they're on the mercy of the Methodist leaders of who their pastor would be. This church had a male pastor, yet he left and that they now have a woman pastor, which may be debatable interior the Baptist Church. as a rely of reality, Baptist's do no longer enable it. the explanation is the Holy Bible. adult males are directed to steer the Church interior the hot testomony. females may be instructors, singers, lead youngster's Church, and so on., yet no longer deacons or preachers. The preacher and deacons lead the Church in construction, growing to be, the value selection, and greater importantly maximum suitable others to Christ. i be conscious of this sounds unfair to 3, yet it is in God's Holy Bible. it extremely is no longer because of the fact we shun females. females have been made via God and are significant to creation. This sounds greater like judging than i desire it to, yet i'm giving examples of ameliorations. i've got faith that Baptists, Methodists, all denominations of Christians, who're stored via the grace of Jesus Christ, will connect one yet another in Heaven.

If you are worried about their faith then you shouldn't even consider marrying this person. Marriage is about love, not religion. My husband is Buddhist and I'm Pagan and we have worked out great, far better than most Christian couples I know.

There are practically no differences. Yes they can marry, and don't let some over-zealous pastor tell you that you can't. The faith is not different--they are both Protestant Christian denominations.
