The "fallen world" is a big theme for you folks. I see the world as haven gotten better in my lifetime of 55 yrs.
yes we have crime and lots of problems, but polio, the scourge of my youth has been eradicated as have many childhood diseases, the draft was abolished, Communism has been beaten in Russia and a black woman is the US Sec of State, etc.,etc. Why the pessimism from christians.? A world advancing toward greater sophistication not in your dogma?
The world is not perfect but it has been getting better since the mythical fall from grace thanks to advances in science and secular government.

Hey, I'm guilty as charged, so don't gimme none of that "judge not, lest ye be judged" rhetoric.

And yeah, I know we can do good works here. But ... ... is that honestly what most of us really spend our time doing here?

And I am all about "free will" so don't think I'm telling ya what do to. I'm leaving that up to other folks.

I have a business that is not going so well. My parents are worried about me because I am not making money. My boyfriend is worrying about not having enough to cover his bills so he is avoiding me. (He does that when he is down.)

I pray, but lately I feel like God is not listening to me, because right now I don't have money to pay my bills. And I am frustrated because it would only take a few sales or a part time bookkeeping job to let me pay bills each month. But lately there has been nothing.

Under the idea God gave us Free will, why does it confuse so many when it is so easy to understand.

We have free will to make ALL our choices, good or bad, God or not, we have free will to use our minds to determine what to do, how to act, what choices to make, and what to believe. So why do people think it is impossible that God gave us that? He may know what you will choose before you choose it, but he lets you decide. He lets you choose it, without plucking you up by your shirt collar and telling you "NO". He lets you reap the reward, or take the consequences based on your own choices.

Main Entry: free will
Function: noun
1 : voluntary choice or decision

By definition, what so hard to understand?

Burritos, rocks, bellybuttons, monkeys, bananas, and Pascal's Wager. Are all things to behold.

That's what someone told me anyway.

I was going through some old papers and my great-grandfather apparently placed his daughter in a Christian school after he received the message of the third angel.

(It may have something to do with Revelation 14:6-13)

Ernest Renan, French historian and religious scholar:

“Jesus was the greatest religious genius that ever lived. His beauty is eternal, and his reign shall never end. Jesus is in every way unique, and nothing can be compared to him.”

Famous Napoleon Bonaparte quotes about Jesus Christ:

“His religion is a revelation from an intelligence which is certainly not that of a man.”

“I know men; and I tell you Jesus Christ is not a man. Superficial minds see a resemblance between Christ and the founders of empires, and the gods of other religions. That resemblance does not exist.”

This makes no sense to me. Just because Liberals want to make sure that church and state remain separated doesn't mean that they're all atheists.

Is it so wrong to have a government that is religiously impartial? After all, this country isn't completely Christian - not by any means!

I have been on this addicting website (which is evil..very evil, by the way) for a couple weeks now, and that's all I see. Stop trying to convert people! Because after all, there are only a limited number of people going to heaven...right? So why do you want to reduce your odds so badly?

Why do some people quote to following are not sin:
adultery/premarital sex
homosexuality
anal sex
masterbation
Scripture and common sense would provide the answers that God would prohibit these practices.
I just listed a few but there are more that I cannot remember now.
It saddens me that personal views override what God says in the Bible. Are those being realistic in their views or choose to believe your own and hope it agrees with Scripture?
Remember, it isn't your personal views that will punch your ticket to heaven.

I know someone's gonna say "Jesus is the path to heaven" or "God will save me", but shouldn't we simply learn to be good people on our own instead of relying on someone else? I'm sure that way we can get to "heaven" for sure :)

My belief is that all holy books are fictions written by some wise guys to keep the general population of the society from behaving badly. Things have not been the same since. don't you think that now is the time to rewrite the bible and all so that they can guide us thorough in today's world.

In 1999, Poe John Paul 11 stated that heaven and hell are not places, but instead refer to different states of life, to whether or not you are in relation with God. I think he shocked a lot of catholics. What are your views?
