I know someone's gonna say "Jesus is the path to heaven" or "God will save me", but shouldn't we simply learn to be good people on our own instead of relying on someone else? I'm sure that way we can get to "heaven" for sure :)

Sorry, not trying to offend anyone...

Er...♥☼

So are you saying...

That a person that believes in God but commits terrible sins is more likely to go to "heaven" then an innocent atheist?

Agreed.

Think it is all about Karma. If we are good. Good things are bound to happen, whatever you believe in.

You make sense to a point. But the Christian religion believes as an overall whole that you can never do enough good deeds to outweigh your sin. Sin is simply too big for us (no matter what the sin is, even the little white lies), but not too big for God to forgive.

Afterwards of accepting sin too big for yourself and accepting God's forgiveness, the love of Christ is supposed to fill you and then good deeds are supposed to come naturally anyway (though you don't need God to do the good deeds, the point of the good deeds to get to heaven is lost until Jehovah and Jesus are accepted).

It is up to you to decide if that is right or if good deeds is enough, but look fully into Christianity and the other religions (Judiasm, Islam, Buddhism, and so on) and any other info you can so that you can make an informed decision.

Being nice is certainly a good start. Do you honestly think that is the only "requirement" to get into heaven? I hate to tell you but Heaven isn't like getting into the hottest night club in town where you just have to look a certain way or have the right amount of money... God is the owner and the bouncer and being nice is just a good start in the right direction.

Ok Look everyone.. Here is someone who is self righteous. Someone who thinks they are GOOD enough to get into Heaven.. Most christian know that they could never be this good. We have to use the righteousness of Jesus.
Sorry but the Way the truth and the Life are only found in Christ Jesus..

Not relying on Jesus as your Lord and Saviour and saying that you dont need His help. Is denying the Holy Spirit, which is very wrong. And Jesus is the path to heaven! If you dont accept Him then you wont go to heaven. For accepting Him is the only way.

Save yourself... and help others to be self-reliant enough to do the same>>> the BIG problem comes when people become so "pocessed" about the "entry" into heaven, they forget about the real world! The old adage, " ...so 'heavenly minded, they/he/she are of no earthy good!" REALLY applies here... you can't buy your way into heaven so aside from "getting right with God" there's not much else you can do to save yourself. If your heart is "in tune," God will know it... no one can fool God, so many need to get that straightened in their heads... Whatever!

you should check into the jehovah's witnesses--i was a true atheist, then i started getting curious and started doing some research--and while all religions and bibles seem to contradict themselves and when they can't expalin something the fall back always being "have faith", the jehovah's seem to be a pretty reasonable accounting of what could have happened with few discrepencies and contradictions (so far--still researching), they have an actual answer (be it true or not i dont know) to every question you pose them--there is never the answer--just have faith....which is convenient for (now) agnostics like me who dont have faith to begin with---it is easier to try and understand other possibilities---the jehovahs preach many things, and should answer your question pretty satisfactorily--since i am far from an expert, (or even through the entire bible, and am not God) i will not be so egotistical and all knowing as to answer your question--no person has the right to answer that question--all bibles say God gave us free will--the rest is a matter of your faith and the only person who can 100% accuratly answer your question is God ( if there is one)--so i wouldn't listen to or pose that question to people in general but at least any people who arent at least ordained and have spent their lives in their faiths--not just every sunday and wednesday lol........the only way any of us are gonna know who is right and what we really should have been doing is God him self--and well, you'll be dead when you meet him--so living people will never know the true answer to that----however--i believe in spirits and ghosts and preternatural things, and none of these "dead" things have given us any clue or insight as to what happens--so thats another way to go with your answer if you CHOOSE to...........do your own research with people who are qualified to HELP you FIND the answer yourself---NO ONE can tell you the answer to that...............

You cannot save yourself. God requires the shedding of Innocent blood in order to atone for sin. Only Jesus Christ fulfills this requirement. Anyone who attempts to save themselves through their own good works is working themselves into hell. Isaiah 64: 6 says, "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities like the wind, have taken us away."

Nice thought, but no matter what good deeds we do there is absolutely no way we can get to heaven without Jesus.

You can act the part of righteousness from day 1, but will still fall short.

Who's heaven are you trying to get into?

Guess what whether its the Christian Heaven The Muslim heaven Nirvana or what ever there are rules to enter into Paradise.

Nice thought but falls short when logic is applied.
