about the pledge of alligance? i am not a christian and i don't see any harm in leaving god in it. i had to recite it when i was in school and i see no reason my children shouldn't either. i mean really ... it has less to do with god than it has to do with letting kids have a feeling of patriotism. as i say i am not a christian and i see nothing wrong with it the way it is so why not just let it be and let our kids show their american spirit?

Is it just another word for denial?

Or is also when you use God's name in vain? For example; I would say "Jesus Christ! Get the hell out of my way!", while driving on the highway to someone driving slow as heck in front of me in the "passing lane" (I call it the fast lane but some people in Yahoo had to correct me). Anyway, I'm not directing it to Him; I'm not telling Jesus to get the hell out of my way or anything. I hope thats a forgivable sin, cuz I say it all the time.

ATTACK ON A GENERATION
Today's teens are being attacked by popular culture like no other generation. Hollywood, the music industry, advertisers, and even the mainstream media are using their arsenal of tools to win the battle for our teens' hearts- and so far they are winning! In order to defeat our enemy, we must know how it thinks and understand the weapons it uses. It is critical that we realize how far-reaching the crisis is- and then we must work together to stop it

The fight to save this generation is bigger than any one of us - however, working together we can fight back! That is where you and the Battle Cry Campaign come into play.
The Battle Cry Campaign works by uniting all of us into one powerful and engaged force. The purpose of the Campaign is to fully realize the potential power of the local church youth group by providing a support structure that will help them grow in numbers while discipling this generation. It calls for at least 100,000 churches. battlecry.com

What did he ever do to you but send his ONLY son to forgive you of your sins and give you a chance to get into heaven?

I cannot comprehend why a God would die on a cross, on earth. I cannot comprehend why a God would die at all. Doesn't the word God indicate an all powerful, immortal entity? If a God wanted to make some changes here on earth, why would he demote himself to Mortal, just to die, when he could skip all that, and just make the changes himself. Are people who believe in a Messiah that died for us just not clear on the concept of God? Or are they perhaps suggesting God is not all powerful, and is an idiot? Help me to understand why God would die?

For both believers and non-believers. Please present serious responses. I wish to know how others view this serious issue that I have always questioned.

There are quite a few denominations in Christianity - not just Protestant and Catholic. Such as Baptist, Presbyterian, Fundamentalists, to name a few.

Do you believe that such division amongst the Christian believers lowers the standard by which non-believers view believers?

Does the fighting/disagreeing between denominations make the Christian religion appear uneducated (as if the Bible has so many translations, how can it be trusted?) and unfounded.

this is meant more as a personal challenge for Christians out there.

As a Christian, are you worshipping God, or your denomination?

i am associated with one particular denomination, however i have a great deal of respect for many others. How many out there are like me?

(Name some of the other denominations that you like.)

I have been reading the Left Behind series and I was wondering where I can find more information about Jesus's second coming (besides the Bible) and what exactly is said in the Bible and what is fiction.

My fiance is a divorced non Catholic and I am a life long Catholic. We went to see a priest to get married - a Catholic priest. He told us we had to get my fiance's previous marriage annulled. Takes a year to go through the process. Priests suggestion was we have a civil ceremony while we wait for the annulment. Only catch is, Priest says I would be excommunicated while I wait a year for an annullment which may or may not happen. Would it be better to "live in sin" for a year while we wait to find out?

I'm genuinely curious.

I don't believe most of what the Bible says anyway, but I don't remember it saying anywhere that Adam and Eve were white.

So why do people think that?
