These aren't exactly arguments for keeping these words in place,
--"people dont have anything better to do. god in the US is part of the history so why change it "
--"they want to be a cry baby and say there rights are being violated they need to thank God they were born in a free country
These words "Under God" are relative late comers to the Pledge as has been already pointed out. They apparently bother some people in this country substantially which at least warrants a dialog. While I personally find no objection for these words to remain in the Pledge, I do see the logic proposed by those who do oppose. That logic brings forth issues of social dysfunction by means of alienating non-believers, an argument which i don't totally buy, but is a much more sound argument than 'That's the way we've always done it, so we should continue'- Not exactly an argument of a society that knows why it developed certain values.

Having a plege of alligance is about patriotism and you're right, that's a good thing. Patriotism brings us together as a nation and a single culture.
But having "God" in the pledge changes it into the opposite. Not every American believes in God, or the Judeo-Christian God. In fact a growing percentage of Americans hold beliefs outside the Judeo-Christian world.
If you leave God in the pledge, you are basically saying "your beliefs don't count." It says we are only one nation to those that follow and believe in this God.
So leaving it in the pledge promotes disunity.
Oh..and while some keep trying to deny this, the US was intentionally formed as a secular government and NOT one of Christianity. The founding fathers were, to the best of my knowledge, all Christians, and yet they saw the importance to having a government NOT run by a church. (if you've studied world history than you know that historically, governments were almost all religiously run).
If this is to be a nation of the people, by the people and for the people, we cannot have God in our pledge.
Oh, and "under God" was not part of the original pledge.

I think that changing things ultimately ruins the meaning of what it once stood for. There are just so many people who can't stand for things to stay the same. As if it's going to ruin all of man kind or something.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with keeping God in the Pledge of Allegiance, it's what this country has stood up for. through war, baseball games, morning before class, and even at Nascar. It's sad that those people want to destroy something that has meant so much to so many. I will ALWAYS say God's name and I will let my children know that God's name is meant to be there and to NEVER forget!
We, as a Nation, know what's right and we WILL keep it going!
HOOAH!

The "one nation under God" line was not in the original Pledge of Allegiance. It was added in the 1950's, a paranoid time when America tried to distance itself from the "godless communists."
In saying the Pledge of Allegiance, public institutions force children to verbally acknowledge the existence of a god, and those that don't are often labeled as "unpatriotic."
This is an issue about equal-treatment and fairness. America is a secularist country, and all groups should be treated with equal respect. No child who is not a theist should ever have to pledge to a nation "under God."
I personally choose not to say the pledge, because of the "God" line, and also because I don't feel that it is logical to pledge allegiance to a symbol.

Our country was founded on God freedom of religion and the ten commandments many many years ago schools were also in the same buildings as the church in small Town's and they all started off small. The big deal is somebody doesn't like God and they want to be a cry baby and say there rights are being violated they need to thank God they were born in a free country

I think that the U.S.A. has been so prosperous because the country honors God. People are asking why God lets their children to be killed at the schools...Well, people voted Him out, so He is not really allowed in schools.
Maturity of people do not see anything wrong keeping God in the pledge of allegiance, but the minority is louder. That is the shame.

The pledge of alligance was not originally written with the line "under god". If enough people have a problem with it I don't see why we can't just change it back.

This topic is very discussable because in the Pledge of Alligance, when they say God, They refer to the Christian God. I myself do not say God.

I'm a christian and the U.S. was built upon religion- the Puritans were some of the first people here and they goverened everything off of their beliefs. Our forefathers were very religous people- I don't understand why people just can't keep that orginial belief that there is something out there watching over us. I mean seriously- shouldn't it be comforting rather than a nuisance? It's like they are making themselves feel better because they are removing God from our lives...IT WON"T WORK!!!!!
