In my opinion, speaking in tongues in the modern church is a huge misinterpretation of the Bible. As I understand it, speaking in tongues is a gift from God that allows a person to speak a language that can be understood by every culture in the world. This gift would be very beneficial to a missionary. So when a person is speaking in tongues, everyone should be able to understand what they are saying, right? So why then, in many christian churches of today, does an overly emotional individual throw himself on the ground and begin to speak jibberish, and then call it speaking in tongues. If it were truly speaking in tongues, then wouldn't everyone understand what they were saying? Why does someone need to interpret? What do you think?

I knew a girl from high school who I am still long-distance friends with now. I think she used to be involved with Christianity at one point, but she has since gone the complete opposite direction, becoming interested in witchcraft and enjoying researching vampires and lots of other dark creatures. She is also actively bisexual. She doesn't want to hear of conversion, and she seems past hope. Is there anything I can say to help her?

I was just wondering, where is it the the vast (or narrow) river of your commonly found mindsets tend to flow? Are you obsessed with philosophy, midwestern cheese, sex, theology, sports, fashion, fine dining, wine tasting in western italy, yahoo answers, math, scientific study, your career, your children, or just semi transmogrifal mid-Entropolitan poetry? Whay do you consider (as you common folk call it) your 'hobbies'?

If someone asks for a piece of gum and you only had one piece left and you were going on a date any minute and you needed it, is it wrong to lie and say you don't have any?
Is this a sin?

As I began viewing the preceeding answers to my oh-so-charasmatic questions, I noticed that many of the answers given to me were, shall we say, /infra dig/ (that's latin) of what I would expect for the average, civil, human being. So my question to you is, why look for the impurities in my typing when the exceptional beauty of their amazing apperative alliteration makes them so worthwhile to read?

Once the Lord had had me in deep trances of worship for several days...every day as soon as i woke up He would be there in His sweet Presence. He had drawn me to Judy Garlands life story and I discovered that right at the end of her life she expressed a bigger interest in Gods will in her life. I was so impacted by the movie she was in " the wizard of OZ " also because her soul seemed to radiate thru her eyes in that role. Then one morning i woke up and immediatly heard a beautiful voice from heaven singing, " somewhere over the rainbow..way up high...if pretty little bluebirds fly..then why oh why cant I ? " I knew He was telling me she was there and that He wants us to fly in His worship to Heaven...before we get there...Jesus..I love u

1) In the Jewish Bible and the Protestant Bible the second commandment says that we should not make any graven images of anything in heaven, beneath the earth, in the water beneath the earth and that we should not bow down to them, nor serve them. (see Exodus 20:4-6 in the Prostant Bible) Why does your Bible eliminate this commandment?

2) Jesus said in Matt 23:9 not to call anyone your (spiritual) Father because you have only one the one who is in heaven. Pope means Papa or Daddy. The local Priest and the Pope are your spiritual authorities. Why do you call them Father and Papa/Daddy (Pope)?

3) Saying the rosary is nothing more than repetitious praying. Why do you do this when Jesus said in Matt 6:7 not to say repetitious prayers like the heathens do?

4) The Word of God says in 1 Tim 2:5 that there is only one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus. So why do you pray to Mary and all the dead saints?
