Seems like there were no "new" bibles written until they came on the scene.......

Please note that as Bible versions go - I assume you mean translations into English - Wescott and Hort have to get in line after a lot of people beginning in the 1500's - the King James Bible goes back to 1611 and it was not the first

Uh, actually there were a number of Bible translations older than Wescott and Hort and some even older than the KJV.
