just a thought i've always had but it may seem kind of ridiculous to many i assume:

so supose you're at heaven's gate and god tells you that you have to go to hell because you have been extremely bad and now you will suffer in hell.

but doesn't the devil want us to do bad things? wouldn't he thank us for going against god, or is he working for god to punish us?

what do you think on that?

I thought churches might be simple buildings encouraging us to live simply and without greed and you know em. I can't explain. I went into a Large Spanish church and it had the largest organ I have ever seen. Also there was gold everywhere and lots of plaques, statues, big murals, modles of Jesus and his diciples and lots of fancy show of stuff. I wasn't expecting that cause I thought they wouldn't want to have the churces looking all flash and making themselves look rich and greedy. Well thats the impression I got. That the church was built by a rich person who was showing off. I can't remember for sure how it came about but it seemed 2 fancy for a church.

Greater restrictions on individual liberties is a hallmark of Christian proposals. Whatever the subject area — sexuality, drugs, you name it — it would be highly unusual to find Christians backing any sort of expansion on what people are free to do.

The Christian Right is Anti-Sex.

The Christian Right is Anti-Pluralism.A significant amount of the Christian Right’s agenda and activity can be explained as an outgrowth of their opposition to pluralism. Modernity is very pluralistic in terms of values, religions, politics, gender roles, and so forth. The Christian Right looks back to a time when they imagine society was more unified and homogenous, thinking that society was stronger and better then. Diversity is not a strength for the Christian Right, it is a weakness that distracts people from following God.

The ideals of Christianity, sacrificial love, passive acceptance of suffering, humility, meekness, etc. not only emulate the qualities of "our redeemer, who died for our sins," but also reinforce the scapegoat syndrome.

1. God wanted to prove to us that we can be saved so he sent his son to die for all mankind
2. God desired that the world be redeemed through the death of Jesus so Jesus was killed
3.Pain is required by God to atone for sin.
4.During the Age of Faith and the Renaissance, most customary and town laws gave husbands the right to beat their wives, although it was usually said that they should do so "reasonably" or "moderately."

God the Father demanding and carrying out the suffering and death of his own son!!

Because you know in that building people are being blinded to the truth and being told absolute rubbish and forced to believe it under threat of hell. You know in that building there could be children who are formulating opinions on the world and who's minds are being saturated by religious lies that they will now believe for the rest of there lives making them almost useless in the scientific community when these children could one day have been great scientists advancing man kind to new levels of science but now won't as they have been told that god exists and everything they need to know is in the bible. People are being told what to believe and not to formulate there own opinions under threat of spending all eternity in torment in hell. Churches are truly evil places.

Trying to be completely unbiased ( I have been pondering God's existence as well as the notion that it doesn't exist.) I believe that many strong religious followers are blinded to many different opinions that question their faith. Such as evolution. A devout follower I know pointed out that if evolution occured, and we came from apes, why are there still apes. Are there humans that live in trees? NO. Are there humans that live in the exact same jungle settings. NO. That is why we remain different. Also, evolution is a process, as can be seen from the models of Homo Sapien from Homo Erectus, and so on down the line. It is a gradual process. Did "God" create homo erectus? NO. Supposedly he created man, homo sapien. Where did homo erectus come from then, if we aren't an evolution of them. The same type of thought occurs with the whole big bang theory. Many strong believers cannot fathom the big bang, as they say it was just a ball of matter, that exploded and created everything.

I happen to believe some people are rude no matter what their religious or atheistic preference. Take time to smell the roses and smile people. It is hard to be a jerk if one is smiling and considerate of others.

I have read a few of these questions and I am new to this forum, but I see a lot of people asking questions and getting answers, that don't sound like the love and peace that Christian's are to be setting the example of their faith in Jesus Christ. Is this our form of terrorism, to bash or are we to up lift and lead? Let's get real in our faith, and lead the lost or we not only doom ourselves, but our intire faith!

I have non-christian friends who sometimes enquire as to why I believe in God, why I am a christian, and what exactly I believe in. I find that if I quote anything from the bible, they simply turn off their interest. What is a way in which I can define my faith in a colliquial and conversational way without slowly boring people to death?

to me and my personal belief that science and nature are one in the same since you can prove some thing with science and see things with nature that go together like evolution and transformations of land masses. science can prove things that nature cant show us.

A Pagan in Hell
By: Pendragon

A Pagan dies and, to his great surprise, he finds himself standing before some pearly gates. St. Peter asks him, "May I help you?"

The Pagan asks, "Where am I?"

Peter says, "You're at the gates of heaven."

The Pagan says, "But I don't believe in heaven."

Peter frowns at him. "You're one of those Pagans, aren't you?"

"Yes. I believe I'm in the wrong place; I'm supposed to go to Summerland."

Peter says, "Sorry. We took over Summerland, and it's temporarily closed for remodeling."

"What should I do now?"

Peter says, "Well, since we don't allow Pagans in heaven, you have to go to hell. Sorry. Just follow that path that leads downward and to the left."

The Pagan walks down to hell, where the gates are standing open. He walks in and finds beautiful meadows, happy animals, and clear streams of water.

He walks on in and begins exploring, and after a few minutes a courtly gentleman walks up to him and bows politely. "Hello, I'm Satan. You must be the guy that St. Peter phoned me about. Are you a Pagan?"

"Yes, I am. What's going to happen now?"

Satan says, "Well, the fishing's pretty good, if you enjoy that sort of thing. There's a little refreshment stand down the road. And I believe the Pagan meeting grounds are right over the next hill."

Suddenly, a hole opens up in the sky above, and a yawning chasm opens directly underneath it. The stench of sulphur fills the air. Hundreds of screaming, tortured souls drop down into the flaming pit, which immediately closes up with a thud.

The Pagan, hardly believing what he just saw, asks Satan, "And what was THAT ???"

Satan rolls his eyes. "Oh, just ignore them. They're Christians; they wouldn't have it any other way."

i have noticed that some christians and atheist seem about the same in ignorance and narrowmindedness as does anyone can tell. atheist dont believe in a god and no afterlife. while christians believe there is a god and afterlife they only go to. this is incorrect in my opinion anyways. atheist are more likely to go to heaven than a christian would but heres the simalieraties between the two groups.
atheist hate all religions including christianity and islam
christians hate all non christian religions including atheism.
atheist are more likely to not care what they do or say
christians dont care what they do either since they have jesus.
atheist are scienticfic in there ideas and morals
christians follow the bible as scientific and moral.
i could go on and on if i wanted to but i just thought maybe someone else may have some ideas too on this

Because when you show them a creature evolving they say "Oh no that’s adaptation not evolution." Well then what bit do you have a problem with? Evolution is the adapting of a creature then this creature with the adaptation out competing others without the adaptation if the adaptation provides an advantage in survival of the fittest. So what bit do you have the problem with? The adaptation or the survival of the fittest bit? Or are you just opposed to the word evolution as you have been told to be by someone in church?

How presumptuous and arrogant can we be? If asked, (as in this forum) share the plain gospel truth, otherwise pray for them, if you are so led. You are wasting your time, their time and only further entrenching them in their conviction against religion and decreasing the likelihood of any future opportunity someone may genuinely have when the time is right. Yes, I’m aware of the great commission, but it was given to far more spiritual capable men than we; they turned ‘the then know world upside down’ with their simple message of Christ resurrected. All we have done with our carnal high tech whining is turn the world against us… and we call it persecution. Give the poor ‘bastards’ a rest, do as Scripture commands and seek to live a holy, quiet and peaceable life with all men. Maybe they will see the light from our actual demonstration of the good news, rather than forcing on them a daily enema filled with propaganda, hype and b.s.

Plus everything is half right, half real, half true. I promise, and you know what that means. I am wrong, I am right, or both, or none. LOL....hahahahahahhahaha

Scientology believes in Xenu, a galactic tyrant who killed billions of aliens here on earth 75 million years ago. But, publicly Scientologists lie about this. One person on Yahoo asked a question about Xenu and a Scientologist of 35 years responded by saying it is not true. This scientologist is either lying (similar to the Moonies "heavenly deception" for our own good I suppose) or has not done the secret level that costs thousands of dollars. Jenna Elfman recently freaked out at a scientology critic, who responded with the Xenu story, and Elfman made her young friend cover his ears. What gives? If they are such good people, as they claim, why are they liars? Thanks, Phoenix
