Because when you show them a creature evolving they say "Oh no that’s adaptation not evolution." Well then what bit do you have a problem with? Evolution is the adapting of a creature then this creature with the adaptation out competing others without the adaptation if the adaptation provides an advantage in survival of the fittest. So what bit do you have the problem with? The adaptation or the survival of the fittest bit? Or are you just opposed to the word evolution as you have been told to be by someone in church?

As nearly as I can tell, creationists seem to think evolution means one day a monkey existed and then the next day he became a human.

A baby is conclusive proof evolution is a fact. A baby is the direct result of rocks, water, animals & vegetation evolving into a human through natural processes.

Tell me Tom, how many creatures have you seen "evolve"? Be truthful. Tell me, Tom, if man evolved from the apes, why are there still apes? Where are the missing links? Why did the apes remain and the missing links disapear? Does this make sense to you?

Its those unanswered questions that cast doubt into the "theory" of evolution. Why do I say "theory"? Because thats what it is. It cannot be proven, no matter what some scientists claim. The theory's time table is so long that is is not provable. Its like saying the earth is 100 zillion years old. How can anyone know for sure how old the earth is? Its theory, not fact.

Another thing you stated was "they" meaning theists. So stereotypical of you to lump us all together as thinking identical. I've never used the word adaptation, so I guess I must not be a theist? Hubba hubba. I don't totally disregard the theory of evolution, but I dont totally believe every concept of it either. Scientist have proven that micro organisms mutate and change, thus evolution does exist at the micro level. And I am sure that even humans have mutated/changed/adapted/evolved to some extent. People in the hot african climates adapted by skin color, for example. Most people agree with some forms of evolution theory, because there is tangible evidence to prove it. But there is NO such evidence to prove man evolved from apes. And I say again, it is only theory. Even the Pastor of my church would agree with that. Science just dont support the Darwins theory completely.

Yeah, well Evolution IS adaptation to enviornments over time through random mutations in the genes, which are acted on by natural selection - so there is survival of the fittest (technically survival of anyone who can stay away from predators - may not always be the fittest)

I have some points.

Most theists (at least here) have little grasp of what "evolution" actually entails. This is why we are constantly bombarded by "If ppl came from monkies, y r there still monkies??" I don't know if this is because they were not inclined to pay attention in school, if they were homeschooled, or if they simply cannot wrap their minds around a theory that is anathema to them.

Now, as an atheist, I can understand the concept of "original sin," and "Jesus died for your sins." I may not believe in these concepts, but I can understand them. Why the believers cannot grasp evolution is totally beyond me.

An interesting thing is that Catholics presume that The Pope is infallible, and they have to listen to whatever he says. A few years ago JP II said that Catholics should believe in evolution. Theoretically, all Roman Catholics are evolutionists now. Why? Because that's what they were told by someone in church.

It makes my head spin.

Trying to be completely unbiased ( I have been pondering God's existence as well as the notion that it doesn't exist.) I believe that many strong religious followers are blinded to many different opinions that question their faith. Such as evolution. A devout follower I know pointed out that if evolution occured, and we came from apes, why are there still apes. Are there humans that live in trees? NO. Are there humans that live in the exact same jungle settings. NO. That is why we remain different. Also, evolution is a process, as can be seen from the models of Homo Sapien from Homo Erectus, and so on down the line. It is a gradual process. Did "God" create homo erectus? NO. Supposedly he created man, homo sapien. Where did homo erectus come from then, if we aren't an evolution of them. The same type of thought occurs with the whole big bang theory. Many strong believers cannot fathom the big bang, as they say it was just a ball of matter, that exploded and created everything. They do not listen to the part about the bonding/binding of atoms and molecules, such as our sun, a bonding of Hydrogen and Helium. Which also ties in to evolution. I personally believe that if there is a god, we are all just his little marionettes, which he watches like we would watch television, or more appropriately like a hamster on a wheel. And if there is no God, I personally believe that the universe is, was, and always will exist, forever changing. Is it not possible that time itself is our God, as it is the only thing that will last forever unchanged, and we only have so much of for ourselves. It sees everything, from worlds being created, to galaxies colliding. Sorry to run on for so long, but yeah.

I guess you are referring to Macro Evolution (one species becoming a complete other species.) There is no evidence of Macro Evolution. we do see evidence of adaptions. Which help an organism to survive but does not change the organism. even the so called skeletal proof the evolutionist have is speculated. They have the first and last skeleton then all the ones in between are what would fit. have a nice day thanks for posting this question and trying to figure out why most do not believe the evolutionist lies.

They are afraid, that somehow, evolution means that their god, doesn't exist. Even though, it could be argued, surely successfully, that a all knowing and omniscient god would naturally give his creatures the ability to evolve, in order to cope with all the changes the world he created has.

Christians are especially afraid of this, because of the myth that the world was created in 4004 BC which was calculated and put forward by a Christian, who didn't know how to count.

There is plenty of evidence that micro and macro evolution exists. Witness the Zebra, Donkey and Horse, check out the creation of a species by the hybridization of two dissimilar species of insects. I could go on all night, but it is time to go home.

Well Hinduism does not contradict evolution, it rather accepts a general idea of evolution when it says "Souls start their manifestation in rocks/chemicals and slowly they progress into plants and higher animals"

Hinduism believes that the present human soul has reached human stage after 8.4 million different species of life, including plants and animals.

Hindus do not believe that God, created the world in some days...they believe God, the universal consciousness and Mind manifests into the universe.

So instead of using the word creation or evolution, hindus use the word Manifestation ...which more logically and scientifically expllains both creation and evolutilon

ADDITIONAL :
Those who say show me evolution they shud know that (1) evolution is very slow process and we cant see it one or two life times (2) not all monkies changed into human...those whose mind was more inquisitve, and were smarter...their genes changed to those of humans.

Instead of evolution or creation..study the manifestation theory of hinuds.. it is more logical and scientific

Yes, you're right, I think that many people are relying on heresay and rumours when it comes to the concept of evolution. When I see people write, "we don't come from monkeys" it makes me doubt that they have studied even the most basic form of high school science.

I personally believe that the truth is a combination of both creationism and evolution and as far as I'm concerned, proponents from neither side have disproven the other.

But either way, we're here...so does it really matter???
