My friend's job was given to someone else as her CRB check was too long coming. She recieved it the next week, clear, as she knew it would be. Has anyone experienced this? What happened next? Apparently you can't sue the government, but this has cost her considerably in loss of earnings and moving to a new house and area. I'm now waiting for one and I'm terrified! I've been speaking to people in the school I currently work at and the head, amongst others has no CRB, one of the teaching assistants has none after sending the form off THREE YEARS AGO. What a crazy system. As far as I can work out it's based upon trust- that you will tell the truth about your past names and addresses- if you were honest you would surely have told your future employer about any past conviction. A waste of time and money, but the government has to do something.

Anyway, so the real question (sorry for the rant), is has anyone experienced this situation- job given to someone else due to lack of CRB

On all enrollment forms for school, we are asked what race our child is. I don't understand a government, where we are supposed to have equal rights, remaining a government that requires us to divide into races in all the paperwork. How are people supposed to feel equal when our government varies the amount of money a school will get by the races of the children? When I have to choose a race for any form, I mark OTHER, and fill in... AMERICAN. I was born here... so was my daughter, therefore, we are American, no matter what our skin coloration is. I certainly wish people would stop segrigating themselves by deciding they are something other than American! What do you think?

I mean despite that eccentric people have been some of the greatest minds in history. Instead, employers want to hire people who live boring, normal everyday lives and don't try to be different even in their personal lives!!! Why is that???? Is this another example of the shallow mentality that comes from a tradtional, somewhat conservative society?

Nowadays we are witness more and more questions about how we can save our planet from people like Bono and so on. But you don't see them actualy doing something for the good of the planet (talking won't save the planet it will only rise your popularity up).
