On all enrollment forms for school, we are asked what race our child is. I don't understand a government, where we are supposed to have equal rights, remaining a government that requires us to divide into races in all the paperwork. How are people supposed to feel equal when our government varies the amount of money a school will get by the races of the children? When I have to choose a race for any form, I mark OTHER, and fill in... AMERICAN. I was born here... so was my daughter, therefore, we are American, no matter what our skin coloration is. I certainly wish people would stop segrigating themselves by deciding they are something other than American! What do you think?

Couldn't agree more. The US Government has no more right to ask about race than the Government of Louisiana had a hundred years ago. It's just plain obscene.

At the last census the only question I was asked was my race, and I refused to answer, though I don't know what became of that as I never received any feedback and was never arrested or anything. Usually surveys give you an opt-out choice, and that's what I choose.

I am glad to hear that I am not the only person in the country who refuses to be classified by "race," whatever that may be. They are free to ask me the distance of my chin from my nose, but somehow they never do.

I know, what's the deal? They usually group black with hispanic children in one school and white and asian kids in another. In Rockville MD, my child is currently attending a double languaged school, English- Chinese, that are mainly white and asian although they do bring black children from the city just to show off that they do have diversities, but you already know what their real intentions were, to segregate children. I have to admit though, it's suprising that some of those white children speaks better chinese than my kid.

I suspect, race segregation have to do with parent and teacher satisfaction, I know alot of white and asian parents complains to school, if there are too many of other race. Also it's because of school reputation, they don't want african and hispanic children to bring down the grades, which is pretty racist, because they're asumming that kids of these two cultures have bad GPA

As long as there are terrorists and violence out there we have all become suspects of some sort, to simply call yourself an American holds no water to the government today, they hold all of our numbers, colours, and what race we may be, they see and hear everything we say, truly big brother has become big brother dictator.

The reason that question is asked is to ensure that the school, business, etc is not discriminating.

I agree with you in principle, but there needs to be a way ensure that all are treated equally and have the same rights.

I just leave the race question blank, if we're all created equal, what does it matter.
