i live in London with some friends in a house share . last week we put up a sign on our door says: "this is not a brothel and there are no prostitues in this house" just for a laugh. Our neighbour next door just came up to us and said "if you dont wanna get lynched take that sign down" i really wasnt expecting it and this is the guy who has been doing heavy constructing works for the last 6 months, starting everymorning 7 oclock. i just said no this is our property and if you like to complain go to the council. i dont know what i should do? as i feel like i have to stand for my rights but at the same time dont want to create a big issue and "be the big man and take the sign down". Please, advice!!!

I watched a programme yesterday on a young black male person who was reporting on the involvement thatf Birmingham & Liverpool (UK) had in the African slave trade. Apparently they were heavily involved in supplying guns and ammunition to Africa.
He wanted some information on the firms involved and info from Civic Centres/Councils etc.
I think he was after some kind of apology but I am not sure. It does make me feel bad, however, I was born in 1973. It was the people in power at the time who had influence. The Abhor the Slave trade and it disgusts me that it ever happened. Should we be thankful that we live in a better age or rake up the past which we can not change?
I am 33 and I do not blame young or old German people for Hitlers atrocities against the human race. They would be killed for protesting. they had to feed/clothe and provide shelter for their families. it was probably similar for English people years ago.
Surely we should move on and not be judge by our forefathers deeds

I currently work in a bar at a top London Hotel. I do the phrase "The customer is always right" but this is the only bar I've ever worked in where some of the customers are so offensivley insulting in many ways. Last night, even though this guy was very drunk he was two inches from my face screaming full on blast over something which was his own fault. Another guy has snapped his fingers at me, and another once when I went to make sure they were ok for drinks etc snapped at me to "f*** off!"

I used to enjoy bar work, but if any of you rude customers out there are reading this, please take note that it's because of you lot that it is hard to find many decent bar/waiting people. Your behaviour is farcical if not soul destroying.

Does anybody have any thoughts on this matter?

-- I deleted the previous question incase I offended anyone and made adjustments. Sorry if you were offended --

I mean, ok, it's the capital city and all, but there is a country outside of that one city.
I asked a question about the North East, and half of the replies said anywhere out of London was rubbish and that we scrounge off what Londoners make.
I cannot see anything that great about London personally, been a few times, always noisy, dirty and weirdest of all, the people didn't speak. Up here, people say good morning or whatever, even when you don't know them, in London they just walked past.

Hi,

Do you think that disabled people should have rights?

May I bring your attention to two petitions on the subject I have on the Downing Street website. They are.

Access to work http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/jobs-disability/

Talking Books http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Talking-Books/

Would you be kind enough to have a look and consider signing them. If you decide to sign, could you ask your friends and collegues to have a look.

Does anyone have some good information I could add to this to help me promote them?

Here is some info I have already found.

The RNIB estimate that only 5% of books published in the UK each year are made into accessible versions. Please help improve this awful state of affairs!

why has the issue of child abuse never taken serioulsy, surely the monsters who commit this evil crime should be put to death!

Please tell me about your experiences, whether you were homeless, or knew homeless people.

Do homeless people come from all backgrounds? Would you / they prefer to work if given a good opportunity (if you're not already working in spite of being homeless)?

Would homeless people like to be able to mentally and physically support themselves in a home, and be respected by themselves and others?

This is a serious question...I need real-life people's true stories to answer the heartless.

If you drive into Wales you will see the Welsh dragon flying proudly in many Welsh villages. It would be nice to see the English flag on display in lots of English villages as well.

Low income families often have more than two children. Their income is spent on the basic necessities. How will their children enjoy the benefits that the high income families give their children e.g. piano/art lessons, tennis/golf lessons, attend prestigious schools etc.

People are coming to Yahoo Answers in attemp to find love advice, medical advice, help with homework, legal advice etc.. The list goes on and on for the people seeking "help".

Do you really think it's a smart idea for someone who is in need of medical attention to come to Yahoo instead of going to their doctor or emergency room?

Do you really think it's a good idea to give a 14 year old little girl "love" advice? Shouldn't this be something that she should be talking to her parents about?

When people stop talking to their parents, doctor's, teachers, lawyers, therapists, etc, and start asking total strangers (on yahoo) for advice and help, what is this world coming to? lol

What is your view on this? My son is 8 , I believe now I would lock him up and throw away the key if he did this. My friend argues if I don't let him he will rebel and do it anyway. I would have less of a problem him having an odd beer in the house or at a party (may be) but not in the street. I didn't drink when I was 16, I was no angel but if I say yeh go ahead what kind of parent would I be. I have 8 years to sort this one out.

ARE YOU 16, DO YOU DRINK ON THE STREET & WHAT DO YOUR PARENTS THINK . LET ME KNOW so I can balance this one! Would you rather drink at home or would that not be kool?
