Text of ancient Greece and Rome wrote about four ages of
man - golden age, silver age, bronze age and iron age.
The classification was according to superiority of
metals. The ancient Hindu texts wrote about Krita Yuga,
Treta Yuga, Dwapara Yuga, and Kali Yuga. Krita Yuga was
the age of learning - the Vedas were written during that
time. Treta Yuga was the age of great physical actions,
like Rama making war with Ravana. Dwapara Yuga was the
age of romance, like the romantic episodes of Krishna.
In Sanskrit, Kala Ratri means darkest period of night.
The name Kali Yuga means age of deep darkness. This
cycle also corresponds to the cycle of day - morning
time, afternoon time, early night time and time of deep
darkness. It is known to many teachers that students are
at their best for learning during morning time. For
engineering students, the afternoon time is the best for
workshop practicals and engines lab practicals.
