minorities get treated special? You would figure that by now, we all know we each make our own destiny. All those scholarships could be done with proof of family income... call it a poverty scholarship. They don't have to be reserved for minorities only! Don't you think that there are caucasians in poverty as well? Why is it that a Miss Black America is allowed on TV? Why is it that a company can't just hire who ever is qualified for the job no matter their color? I'm sure we could find a way to proove that a company is predjudice, but, a school? Neighborhoods seem to determine which children are going to be in the schools by who lives in those communities. It just seems to me that the real point to the end of segrigation is lost if we are forced to do it anyway. The government keeps us segrigated! In Other countries, I've seen people asked... they don't say I'm black, or African English! They say, I'm English, or I'm German... So why do people segrigate here if they want equality?

i tried it for the fist time on friday and i liked it and i wanna try it again but my bff made me promise her to never do it again. so, i promised and she said "its ok to not promise, just dont lie to me and do it behind my back".. and i said "i promise" im afraid that i might end up doin it behind her back... and i don't see what the big deal is w/pot either. should i just party with my other friends while she's with her straight edge navy bound christian boyfriend on friday nights and not tell her??

btw i LOVE my bff alot but she just doesnt party.. her and her bf are gunna get married one day i just know it, but lets just say if she wernt with him i could get her to party with me. but thats just a fantasy that will never happen. is it cool for me to hide this from her that i have "party" friends and then "her", and i just keep my party life quiet around her?

I know it's silly, but don't you like the female 'avatars' on this site? Man, they're all pretty hot aren't they.. Whenever I ask a question I feel like it's answered by a team of helpful supermodels. Of course, maybe it's actually the case..

Text of ancient Greece and Rome wrote about four ages of
man - golden age, silver age, bronze age and iron age.
The classification was according to superiority of
metals. The ancient Hindu texts wrote about Krita Yuga,
Treta Yuga, Dwapara Yuga, and Kali Yuga. Krita Yuga was
the age of learning - the Vedas were written during that
time. Treta Yuga was the age of great physical actions,
like Rama making war with Ravana. Dwapara Yuga was the
age of romance, like the romantic episodes of Krishna.
In Sanskrit, Kala Ratri means darkest period of night.
The name Kali Yuga means age of deep darkness. This
cycle also corresponds to the cycle of day - morning
time, afternoon time, early night time and time of deep
darkness. It is known to many teachers that students are
at their best for learning during morning time. For
engineering students, the afternoon time is the best for
workshop practicals and engines lab practicals.

I ask this because I am planning to volunteer internationally before I go to grad school next year and a female here basically told me that I should leave the volunteering to the professionals because I do not have much experience. (BTW: I am a member of a national volunteer group, I became certified in CPR and First AID in junior high school and I know Spanish, Italian, Chinese, and Arab). Basically, the woman told me I am not effcient because I am not a professonal like her.

I'm not talking about a state resident or other legally binding status. I'm talking about when they say someone is a "true New Yorker". There is an old wives type deal that says that there is a certain number of years before you can call yourself a New Yorker, and I want to say it's 7 years, but... does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Today, after 10 minutes of the game the child across the table from my Son jumped up and threw a bottle of water at him. He busted my Son's nose and broke his glasses. My son (normally a passive person) pushed the table aside and hit the child that attacked him.
My Son has now been suspended from School for two weeks and many other punishments (Court, fines etc..,etc..) nothing happened to the other child. I was told by the School Officials that even though they have Witnesses confirming my Son's story they can do nothing about the other child because they did not See it!!

I am Proud of my Son and would have done the same thing, as an Adult! School policy says he should not have fought back.
He should have let his nose bleed all over the place and find a Teacher to report it to.
I know School Policies are to be respected and followed but shouldn't the other child have received some kind of punishment??
Why did he get away with the initial attack (Witnesses, remember)?

I do NOT want to write for newspapers because it is hard and unstructured and you would not get paid a lot. He said you could be like a copy editor or layout editor, which pays more and is structured, but he said to be a layout or copy editor you have to have a specific skill, and we don't seem to be focusing specifically on those skills, we just seem to be learning to write for newspapers. He keeps saying most of the people in the class will probably end up being news reporters because he said 90% of people end up being news reporters and only 10% are editors. But I do NOT want to be a reprter! I do NOT want to be a news reporter. I can't stand it and I know I would not want to do it. If anything I would want to be a copy editor, but I don't even think I want to work with a newspaper at all. Aren't there any jobs I can easily get out of college that would not have to do with a newspaper or magazine? Like aren't there any other writing jobs, or any other jobs?
