There can be several reasons. We older people have a lot of experience. We've made the mistakes and can see when they're being made again. We may want to fix or prevent them, frustrated that these are things that can't be taught, only learned.

Some of us are tired of rituals and wasted effort. Everything is a little harder so we grow impatient with extravagance. And some of us do get "set in our ways", no longer interested in alternatives to the way we're used to. It's not all of us, certainly, but some of us insist on respect because we fear losing our dignity.

We all imagine the far off day when the world will turn expectantly to learn from our "wisdom", but that day never seems to come. (It's too busy making those fresh mistakes.) Be patient and forgiving. They won't always be around to argue.

I don't know how old you are but with a name like hippy lady it makes me want to ask, Why wouldn't we get grumpier as we get older?? We were the ones who changed the world. For the better?maybe not. But the kids of today are reaping all that we sewed and we are getting too old to enjoy it. lol
